In 1899, Teng Jiushou was born in a rich family in Dujiang County, Guizhou Province, his father Teng Ziqing served in the Dujiang Department, from a young age Teng Jiushou had a heart of blood to serve the country, he was the third oldest in the family, in the face of his brother's often bullying behavior, he has always been unaccustomed, very angry, often with "fine loyalty to serve the country and self-destruct" At the age of 18, Teng Jiushou was admitted to the artillery department of the Guizhou Daowu School, which was the best military school in Guizhou at that time, and it was also a famous military school in the southwest region of China.
In 1919, Teng Jiushou graduated with excellent results, and then entered the Qian Army to start his military career, during the Northern Expedition, Teng Jiushou's unit was reorganized into the 10th Army of the National Revolutionary Army, in the same year he was transferred to the Chaozhou Branch of the Whampoa Military Academy as an instructor, and in the following years, the 10th Army underwent several reorganizations, officers at all levels were demoted one after another, and when the military career was not satisfactory, Teng Jiushou happened to meet his classmate Deng Zhenquan in Guizhou Teaching Martial Arts School, deng Zhenquan was then the commander of the Wusong District Fortress. At that time, the chief of staff of the headquarters, Du Zuozhen, resigned due to illness, and under the arrangement of Deng Zhenquan, Teng Jiushou became the chief of staff of the colonel of the fortress.
