The hand that shook the cradle shook the world
As early as 1978, the playwright Zhao Ruitai met Cai Hesen and Xiang Jingyu's children. He still remembers that on June 20, 1984, Cai Bo, the son of Cai Hesen, came to Wuhan and said, "You should write about my grandmother." After the two talked all night, this small-footed old lady named Ge Jianhao remained in Zhao Ruitai's heart. "She is wrapped in a pair of small feet, and thousands of years of feudalism have left an indelible mark on her, but she has to take these small feet to oppose feudalism, and the reverse is very wonderful."
20 years ago, Liu Ziwei saw the drama "Mother" written by Zhao Ruitai, Ge Jianhaoxiufu left home, took his children and daughters to France, threw himself into the revolution to find light, and still raised the revolutionary descendants in the mountains after the sacrifice of his children, which made Liu Ziwei, who once left the Peking Opera stage, move his heart. "I've been thinking about this role for 20 years."
A few years ago, this "legendary mother" made the general director Huang Dingshan sleepless at night. During the creative process, the Peking Opera "Mother" crew "got off the train, got on the car, and walked into the mountains" to go to Hunan to collect wind. In front of Ge Jianhao's tomb, general director Huang Dingshan secretly thought: "Her strange life, unique personality, and contribution to the Chinese revolution make people have the responsibility to use their lifelong creative accumulation to complete this work." ”
Create red themes with red feelings
"I have been associated with the Cai and Sen family for more than 40 years, and most of my life has been related to this family." In Zhao Ruitai's eyes, fate and affection have become responsibilities. In order to create the story of this family, he flipped through about ten million words of information and went deep into their hometown again and again. He said: "When we write works on red themes, we must have red feelings, understand history and characters, find the resonance point between history and today, and write yesterday for tomorrow." ”
Such feelings continued into the creation of "Mother", Liu Ziwei recalled: "The rehearsal process was very painful, and I was always afraid that I would not be able to survive. But the rehearsal process is also very warm, in the crew, the blue sky playing Cai hesen called Liu Ziwei "mother", and the group up and down also called her "mother". Acting, Liu Ziwei often felt that he was the mother. "The director always let me control my emotions, but when I look at the blue sky on the stage, I can't control it."
The actors and the characters become one, and the audience is naturally introduced into the play. In the round of performances of "Mother", Huang Dingshan was pleased to find that "so many young people have walked into the theater of "Mother", watched Peking Opera, watched red dramas, and some even watched it six times. ”
Shouzheng innovates and explores the expression of modernity in Peking Opera
On the opera stage, "stilt gong" has become extremely rare. However, in order to better present the story of Ge Jianhao's "three-inch golden lotus walking the world", Liu Ziwei not only performed "stilts" throughout the whole process, but also stepped on the three-inch stilt jump rope and danced Kang Kang dance. With traditional skills, "Mother" has a more modern expression, concise and artistic choreography, and symphony orchestra accompaniment, all of which show the unique charm of Han Peking Opera.
Such characteristics have caused a lot of pressure on the actors, Blue Sky said: "How to use the four skills and five methods to express the theme of modern revolution, and to perform and sing Cai Andsen, this makes me very stressed." Liu Ziwei also recalled: "During the rehearsal process, director Huang Dingshan helped me and Blue Sky change a lot of habitual things and make this character more touching. ”
