The militia quickly reported the information of the Japanese squad found in the base area to the intelligence department of the 386th Brigade, and when the brigade commander Chen Geng learned of it, he sent an urgent telegram to Liu Bocheng: The Japanese army has an independent squad operating secretly at night, disguised as our army, and marching toward the rear organs of our army.

Due to the early transfer, the Mashiko advance team only found the empty headquarters of the Eighth Route Army, and then entered the mountains to continue the search.
In the case of the transfer of the Eighth Route Army, the previous map has lost its usefulness. The best way to search for Masako Shigeo could think of was to detect the eighth route army radio signals, and the place where the signals were frequent must be where the important organs of the eighth route army were located. While the two of them were arguing endlessly, Zuo Quan suddenly gave an order to Tang Wancheng, the commander of the guard company next to him: I order you to ensure the safety of General Peng at all costs. After Tang Wancheng heard this, he led several guards under him to forcibly take him away despite Peng Dehuai's obstruction.
After Peng Dehuai successfully broke through, he immediately asked Tang Wancheng to go back and asked him to take Zuo Quan out. After Tang Wancheng returned, he informed Zuo Quan of Peng Dehuai's order, but Zuo Quan sternly refused. Because there were still a large number of organ personnel who were not out of danger at this time, as the supreme leader, he had to ensure that everyone had successfully broken through before leaving.

Zuo Quan knew that he could not hesitate at this time, otherwise he would not be able to escape the enemy's encirclement. So Zuo Quan stood next to Gao Po and shouted: Comrades, rushing out of the mountain pass in front of you is victory, everyone rushes. At this time, Zuo Quan could break through the encirclement of the Japanese army by rushing forward a few hundred meters, but he still chose to stay where he was for command, and his voice was hoarse because he had been shouting loudly.
When Zuo Quan was commanding without regard for his safety, a shell exploded around Zuo Quan, and a piece of shrapnel passed through Zuo Quan's eyebrows. The warriors saw Zuo Quan fall and thought he was injured. Rush over to find that Zuo Quan has been sacrificed.

After the breakthrough, the organ fighters joined Peng Dehuai in a small village and reported the news of Zuo Quan's sacrifice. As a result, Mashiko Shigeo led the advance team back to Cross Ridge again. Under the continuous excavation of Mashiko's advance team, Zuo Quan's body was unfortunately found.
The Japanese not only opened the coffin, but also dragged out Zuo Quan's body. In order to show off their military exploits, the Mashiko Advance Team took a large number of photos of Zuo Quan's body and published them in newspapers.
