Jiang Zhujun, a famous revolutionary female martyr. In 1945, she married her husband Peng Yongwu. After marriage, she was responsible for the organization and distribution of the Chongqing Municipal Party Committee's underground publication" Zhenjin Bao. In 1948, her husband died, and Jiang Zhujun took over his job. On June 14 of the same year, she was arrested in present-day Wanzhou and imprisoned in the Zhazhidong concentration camp. In the face of torture, she never handed over information about the party. On November 14, 1949, Jiang Zhujun was killed at the age of 29. So, how is her only son now?
In 1946, Jiang Zhujun gave birth to a son Peng Yun in Chengdu. In fact, before Peng Yongwu married her, she already had a wife Tan Zhenglun who had been married for eight years in her hometown in Yunyang County, and the two also had a son. In October 1947, she wrote a letter to Tan Zhenglun and entrusted her brother Tan Zhu'an to hand it over to her. In the letter, Jiang Zhujun wrote: "If we have any misfortune, Yun Er will give it to you." I hope that in the future, he can follow the footsteps of his parents, take the construction of new China as his ambition, and fight to the end for the revolutionary cause! She gave everything and the plan out, and also asked Tan Zhenglun to come to Chongqing as soon as possible.
In February 1948, Tan Zhenglun came to Chongqing at the risk of his life and took over Peng Yun, who was only one year and ten months old, from Jiang Zhujun's comrades-in-arms. The two had never met, and the only contact was the letter, but Tan Zhenglun agreed to her request. In this way, Peng Yun lived with Tan Zhenglun and his half-brother. Tan Zhenglun regarded him as a biological child, and he also affectionately called him "Mother".
Since childhood, Tan's mother has been very strict with Peng Yun and her brother in all aspects. Although the government has subsidies, they are few and far between. In the environment at that time, she had to pull two children to grow up, and you can imagine how difficult it was. Fortunately, Peng Yun did not disappoint her and inherited the wisdom of her parents. In 1965, at the age of 19, Peng Yun was admitted to the Harbin Military Engineering College with excellent results. After graduation, he was assigned to work in a factory in Shenyang. In 1973, he married his college classmate Yi Xiaoye. Yi Xiaoye's family is in Beijing, and the two have been separated from each other. It was not until 1975 that Peng Yun was transferred to a research institute in Beijing, and the family was reunited.
In 1977, the college entrance examination and postgraduate examination were resumed. Peng Yun was admitted to the graduate school of the Institute of Computing of the Chinese Academy of Sciences with excellent results, and soon after, he was admitted to the first batch of public students and went to the United States to study at Wayne State University in Michigan and the University of Maryland. In 1987, Peng Yun returned to China and did more than a year of research work at the Institute of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. Later, a well-known American publishing house took a fancy to his doctoral dissertation and invited him to be the first author. So Peng Yun went to the United States and settled here, where he is now a tenured professor in the Department of Computer Science at the University of Maryland.
For the issue of returning to China, Peng Yun was a little entangled. He had tried hard, but he didn't know what to do after returning home, and he couldn't seem to find a point of focus. He has been living under the aura of his parents, and originally planned to come back after making some achievements in the United States, but he did not expect that he would not make it until he was old. Regarding his mother's last wishes, he confessed that he had only done half of it.
