In the Tang Dynasty, there was an emperor, and the reason why many people had never heard of it was also reasonable. Because of this, although the emperor was called an emperor, he had never been an emperor before his death. After his death, his brother Emperor Xuanzong of Tang, Li Longji, thanked him for his kindness and posthumously honored him as Emperor Rang. He was Li Chengqi (also known as Li Xian), the eldest son of Emperor Ruizong Li Dan. So why is Li Chengqi called the Emperor, the story has to start from the beginning.

Talented young man crowned king

When Li Chengqi was a child, he had a lot of artistic cells, especially liked music rhythm, and especially had a unique view of the Western Guizi movement. When Emperor Gaozong of Tang first ascended the throne, he made Li Chengqi crown prince when he was only six years old. After his father Li Dan was deposed as emperor by Wu Zetian, his grandmother Wu Zetian made Li Chengqi the emperor's grandson, and on the same day as his five younger brothers, he left the imperial court to become the king of the fiefdom, opened a government office, and set up subordinates. In the second year of Longevity (693 AD), he was renamed king of Shouchun County. During the period of Chang'an (701-704 AD), he was transferred to Zuo Zanshan and added Yinqing Guanglu. After Emperor Zhongzong of Tang ascended the throne, Li Xian changed the title of King of Cai, promoted him to the post of Emperor Zhengqing of Waizong, and gave him four hundred households, plus the original total of seven hundred households. Li Chengqi resolutely resigned his thanks, saying that he could not afford the title of a big country and still sealed the king of Shouchun County.

Brotherhood deeply resigned to the prince

After his father Li Dan ascended the throne again, Li Chengqi was given the post of Grand General of the Left Guard. At that time, Li Dan planned to establish an heir to the throne, because Li Chengqi was the eldest son of Concubine, and Li Longji (Tang Xuanzong), the Prince of Ping, had a great merit in pinging The Wei clan, so it could not be decided for a long time. After analyzing the situation, Li Chengqi took the initiative to say: "The crown prince is the position of the state, and in the peacetime, the eldest son should be the first, and when the country is in trouble, it should be attributed to meritorious service." If it is not handled properly, it will be disappointed in the sea, which is not a national auspicious thing. The subject dared to die and pleaded not to appoint me as crown prince. Since then, Li Chengqi has been sobbing and resolutely resigning, and his words are very earnest. In addition, Wang and Gongqing also said that Li Longji had great social merits and was suitable to be a crown prince. Li Dan admired Li Chengqi's wishes, so he agreed to make Li Longji the crown prince. After Li Longji learned of this, he also thought that Li Chengqi was the eldest brother and had been given the position of crown prince, but Li Dan did not allow it, so he issued an edict: "The great general of the Left Wei Dynasty, King Chengji of Song, is the eldest son of Yuan, and should have been established as the crown prince, but the third son, Li Longji, has made great contributions to the society, and people and gods are all in this regard, so I give way to the throne with my sincerity, and I must do what I say." The grand duke of the world is incorruptible.
