On May 13, local time, according to the TMZ website, Mary-Kate Olsen and her husband Olivier Sarkozy announced their divorce, ending a five-year marriage.
Mary-Kate Olsen, 33, is an American fashion designer and actress, and Elizabeth Olsen, who played "The Crimson Witch" in "The Avengers," is her sister. Mary-Kate Olsen also has a twin sister, Ashley Olsen, known as the Olsen sisters.
Mary-Kate Olsen's husband, Olivier Sarkozy, is 17 years older than her and is a French banker living in the United States. His half-brother is former French President Nicolas Sarkozy. Olivier Sarkozy and Mary-Kate Olsen began dating in 2012 and married in Manhattan in November 2015.
The marriage, which was 17 years apart, had attracted much attention, and due to the huge age difference, the two were more like "father and daughter" together. Once a photo of Olivier kissing Mary Kate's forehead went viral, mary Kate with a childlike face is more like Olivier's daughter. Although the two were once in love, they are now almost torn apart by divorce.
This week, Mary-Kate's lawyer reportedly received an email from her husband's lawyer asking her to move things out of their New York apartment by May 18. Subsequently, Mary Kate asked for the marriage to be extended to May 30, but the husband has not yet responded. During the pandemic, Mary Kate was unable to leave before the deadline due to a quarantine ban in New York, and the only way she could protect her property was to file a divorce petition asking the court to prevent her husband from disposing of her property.
In April, Mary-Kate signed a divorce petition but was told that the court would not accept divorce applications due to the current global crisis. For now, Mary Kate is now making urgent requests for processing, including requests for the execution of their prenuptial agreement.
