On October 25, less than a week after taking office, Liu Ning, secretary of the regional party committee, inspected and investigated the on-site inspection and investigation of the estuary of the new land-sea corridor (Pinglu) Canal (hereinafter referred to as the Pinglu Canal) in the western part of Qinzhou City, which fully reflected the expectations and great importance attached to the Pinglu Canal project and the development of transportation. Huang Weijing, member of the Standing Committee of the Autonomous Regional Party Committee and secretary general, and Liu Hongwu, vice chairman of the Autonomous Region, accompanied the investigation. Chen Hongqi, director of the Transportation Department of the Autonomous Region, made a work report on the spot. The Pinglu Canal is the first Grand Canal connecting the rivers and seas since the founding of New China, an important part of the new land-sea corridor in the west, a newly opened strategic channel for river-sea intermodal transport, and an objective need to serve the major national strategy, build a transportation power, and build a comprehensive three-dimensional transportation network, and the project construction strategy is of great significance. During the investigation of the estuary of the Pinglu Canal, Liu Ning fully affirmed the results of the preliminary research work of the Pinglu Canal and the comprehensive development plan of transportation in our region in the "14th Five-Year Plan". Liu Ning pointed out that the Transportation Department of the Autonomous Region should further strengthen overall planning, actively promote the preliminary work of the project, and do a good job in the comprehensive development of the Pinglu Canal; continue to deepen the study of the canal construction plan and make scientific decisions; and pay close attention to the project investment and financing plan to lay the foundation for the early start of the project.
Chen Hongqi also reported on the development of comprehensive transportation in Guangxi, such as water transport, highways, railways, and civil aviation. Up to now, the Pinglu Canal Project has completed the preparation of project proposals and related 11 special studies, and has passed the third-party review to achieve the depth of project approval, and has simultaneously carried out the preparation of project feasibility reports and related 21 special studies, and plans to complete the project approval and the preparation of work reports before the end of this year. In the next step, the Transportation Department of the Autonomous Region will implement the spirit of Liu Ning's research instructions and the care and instructions for the transportation work into various work, and continue to accelerate the preliminary work of the project, scientific demonstration, and high-quality planning and construction of the Pinglu Canal.
