Born in 1923 in a small village in Lankao County, Henan Province, Lei Baosen was originally surnamed Li. Later, because of conflicts with the landlord's family, the Li family was forced to flee the countryside. But the society at that time was not very peaceful, and the people's life was very difficult.
The Li family was forced to live in the broken temple, and Lei's father died when he was five years old. A year later, Lei Baosen's mother also contracted an illness and died, so the eight-year-old Lei Baosen was sent to a farming family in Shangcai County, Henan Province, to raise him, and has since changed his surname to Lei.

It was his diligence and honesty that attracted Mr. Hou, a life-changing "big brother" to his world. It turned out that the real identity of this big brother was an underground worker of our party, who specialized in transmitting information to the organization.

During the liberation of China in 1948, Lei Baosen's unit was incorporated into the 26th Army, and Lei Baosen served as a machine gunner. He joined the East China Field Army and began his meritorious journey.
Subsequently, he participated in the Battle of Huaihai and the Battle of Crossing the River, devoted himself to the liberation of southern cities, and became a glorious Communist Party member because of his outstanding performance. When the Korean War broke out, he joined the volunteer army as a squad leader, obeyed the state's arrangement, and followed the troops to the Korean battlefield.

The squad leader at the time, Lei Baosen, was ordered to lead a squad and nine soldiers to the battlefield of Highland 299. The purpose was to prevent U.S. troops from passing through this place and reaching the real battlefield to support the U.S. side and increase troops.
At this point the weapons in their hands consisted of only a bazooka and some grenades. The fighters waited three days on the high ground before they were able to spot the U.S. troops.
But the arrival of American troops made them frown. It turned out that this was not an ordinary American team, they brought a full 11 tanks and a jeep, and this kind of firepower was not something that their squad could bear.
Reberson calmed down, and after discussions with the soldiers, he decided to strike the head and cut off the tail, destroying the first tank first and then concentrating his fire to destroy the last tank.
In this way, the enemy tanks, whether attacking or retreating, have no way to do so, and finally destroy one by one in the encirclement.

Eleven times the position was repeatedly fought, and Lei Baosen was seriously injured, vowing to die, and chose to jump off the cliff to commit suicide. Lianli's comrades thought that Lei Baosen had died heroically, and held a memorial service for him.
Fortunately, however, Lei Baosen escaped death, fell into the haystack, was rescued by two North Korean villagers, and was sent to the local volunteer hospital to save his life. However, he was too badly injured and subsequently fell into a coma, so he was sent back to China for treatment.

Therefore, after he recovered, as soon as he was discharged from the hospital, he went through the demobilization procedures, quietly returned to his hometown of Henan, and found a job as a cleaner in a hotel to survive.
Later, the state organized a clean-up work, and when our army returned to the battlefield, it searched around the surrounding area for the remains of the soldiers, but did not find the remains of Lei Baosen. So the chief kept believing that he was still alive.
After returning home, the commander published his heroic deeds and portraits in domestic newspapers and searched for the war hero Lei Baosen nationwide. The low-key old Ray in the hotel was recognized, though he never mentioned his heroic experience to anyone.
Then Lei Baosen's boss found old Ray and looked at the honest cleaner in front of him in surprise.
