On October 25, 1950, the Chinese Volunteer Army fought its first campaign after entering the DPRK, and in 1951 the Party Central Committee decided to designate October 25 as the anniversary of the War to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea. Today, we relive the spirit of the War to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea, once again read the deeds of the martyr Lin Shuishi of the Zhangpu Volunteer Army, and let this hero who has spanned half a century enter thousands of households!
On New Year's Day 1964, in the hometown of Lin Shuishi, a volunteer martyr in Shaxi Town, Zhangpu County, Fujian Province, the relevant personnel of the county committee came to Lin Shuishi's relatives and delivered a wooden plaque of "Martyrs' Glorious House" to Lin Shuishi's relatives, and once again told the deeds of Lin Shuishi martyrs, thanking them for cultivating outstanding sons and daughters for the motherland.

The support company of the 3rd Battalion of a composite brigade of the 78th Group Army placed the remains of the martyr Lin Shuishi in the honor room
Last year, the remains of the martyr Lin Shuishi returned to China with the seventh batch of martyrs of the returned volunteer army in Korea, and after confirming the kinship through DNA before September 1 this year, two relatives of the martyr Lin Shuishi participated in the "burial ceremony for the return of the remains of the eighth batch of returned volunteers in Korea" as representatives, witnessing this great historical moment. After more than half a century, the heroic soul of the martyr Lin Shuishi finally returned to his hometown, from nameless to famous, from warrior to hero, Lin Shuishi was once again known to the people, and his heroic name was engraved on the wall of the heroic name of the martyrs' cemetery of the War to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea for the world to admire!
Lin Shuishi's family was awarded a plaque of "Martyrs' Glorious House"
Lin Shuishi was born in October 1928 to a poor and impoverished peasant family in The Village of Tsuru in Shaxi Town, Zhangpu County (now Guleigang District), Fujian Province. When he was a child, Lin Shuishi was not tall, but he was very handsome, and before he became a soldier, he was a cow herder, often went down to the field to cut grass, and sometimes fished with his friends to catch shrimp. Due to the poverty of the family, the family can only squeeze in the dilapidated tile house, often not enough to eat, not warm, although the family conditions are difficult, but Lin Shuishi never complains to others, very ambitious. Once, someone in a neighboring village secretly cut the wood on the hill of Tulou Village was discovered by Lin Shuishi, who had a strong and upright personality, and he desperately chased it to a far place and tried his best to pull back the wood that had been stolen and cut. Lin Shuishi is like this, no matter who steals the wood as long as he finds it, he would rather offend people and confiscate the wood, in his hometown, some people who tried to steal wood did not dare to act rashly, avoiding the loss of the collective property in the village.
Lin Shuishi
In April 1949, Lin Shuishi decided to join the army and serve the country. His relatives heard that he was going to join the army, and although he was very reluctant, he was also quite supportive. His brother Lin Shuifa (deceased) deliberately passed on his son Lin Meijin (deceased) to Lin Shuishi as a son according to local customs. Since then, Lin Meijin's three sons, Lin Yiyu, Lin Yihui, and Lin Shuxin, have become Lin Shuishi's titular grandsons.

Lin Shuishi participated in the War of Liberation, and during the War to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea, he was incorporated into the 2nd Battalion, 6th Company, 218th Regiment, 73rd Division, 23rd Army of the Chinese Volunteer Army, and served as a squad leader. Lin Shuishi's company is the company of Wang Cheng, the prototype of the movie "Heroes and Children", in early September 1952, the 73rd Division of the 23rd Army crossed the Yalu River into the Korean War. On June 7, 1953, lin shuishi's company was fighting against the west and northwest highlands of 281.2 highlands, in order to avoid the sacrifice of more volunteer soldiers, Lin Shuishi took the initiative to sign up, carrying 16 grenades lurking behind the big rock, and died with the enemy tanks at the critical moment. Many veterans recalled that "281.2 Highland" is a small hill with a radius of less than two kilometers, with Shangganling on the right and "Old Bald Mountain" on the left. If the volunteer army can occupy this high ground, the right side can cut off the enemy's retreat from Shangganling, and the front can prevent the enemy's reinforcements to Shangganling and contain some of the enemy's troops. At the same time, it can ensure the safe passage of volunteer front-line transport vehicles and combat materials. In order to compete for this important target, the commanders and fighters of the 73rd Division repeatedly fought with the enemy army, annihilating more than 2,000 enemy troops, and were commended by the general order of the 23rd Army.
Certificate of meritorious service of Lin Shui
According to military history, the 73rd Division suffered 3,232 casualties in the battle for the "281.2 Heights" and its nearby heights, of which 210 commanders and fighters of the 218th Regiment, 2 Battalions, and 6 Companies, only 17 survived by the end of the battle. "It can be said that every inch of the soil of the 281.2 highland is stained with the blood of volunteer soldiers." When the head of the unit went to the home of the martyr Lin Shuishi to comfort and tell about the heroic deeds, it was recorded that his cousin Chen Changzhu said: "At that time, everyone was crying, and their hearts were very unwilling! She also said that when Lin Shuishi's mother heard the telegram of her son's sacrifice, she fainted and was unconscious, and everyone could not help her.
In 1983, the Ministry of Civil Affairs issued certificates of revolutionary martyrhood to their families
Although Lin Shuishi's life was short, it showed the true color of China's hot-blooded soldiers. "In the course of battle, he fought bravely and fiercely, commanded flexibly, encouraged everyone to annihilate the enemy's emotions in an emergency, charged forward on his own, was not afraid of bloodshed and sacrifice, crushed the enemy several times, and commanded the whole class to annihilate nearly a hundred enemy troops." The certificate of meritorious service reads like this.
When the movie "Chosin Lake" made everyone once again understand the spirit of the volunteer army to defend the country by swearing to die to defend the country, when the soldiers of the "Ice Sculpture Company" sacrificed in the snow, when the hard potatoes became the most fashionable and most needed food, it was they who resolutely maintained the great belief of defending the country, striving to be heroes, being the first soldiers, and not being afraid of sacrifice, so that we had a happy and healthy life today and the beginning of our great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.
"Thanks to the party and the country for not forgetting my grandfather, the loyal soul can finally rest in peace on the land of the motherland!" Lin Shuishi, the nephew of the martyr Lin Shuishi, said excitedly after attending the "burial ceremony for the remains of the eighth batch of martyrs returning to Korea". He said: Today (October 22) marks the 71st anniversary of the victory in the War to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea, and I want to once again tell my children about my grandfather's battle story and the spirit of the War to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea that the honor and disgrace of the motherland are closely related to everyone, that I must be the inheritors of the red gene, to be useful to the country, to inherit my grandfather's legacy, and to firmly believe that only by always following the party can I live a happy life.
