Among them, the average output value of Hainan avocado per mu is close to 10,000 yuan. Associate Researcher Wang Jiashui is the head of the "Oil pear research group" of the Haikou Experimental Station of the Chinese Academy of Tropical Agricultural Sciences (hereinafter referred to as the Haikou Station of the Chinese Academy of Thermal Sciences), and the research group contributed to the nationwide academic exchange conference. In his academic report to the conference, Wang Jiashui reviewed the history of avocado cultivation in Hainan: since 1960, the older generation of germplasm experts of the Institute of Thermal Sciences began to introduce avocados, establish production bases, continuously introduce germplasm resources, and later establish germplasm gardens. In 2010, the Haikou Station of the Chinese Academy of Thermal Sciences set up a special research team, and 8 members of the research group were mainly engaged in the collection and evaluation of germplasm resources, variety breeding, efficient cultivation, green prevention and control of pests and diseases.

At present, the research group has collected 468 copies of the national avocado germplasm resources, introduced 45 foreign main cultivars, and completed 200 copies of ex vivo preservation.

In the conference report, Wang Jiashui released the team's latest research results: avocado kernel resistant starch content of 63-77%, determined that it is a new source of resistant starch! Resistant starch can protect human intestinal health, prevent bowel cancer, is a good helper for vascular cleaners and blood sugar control.

At the seminar, a total of 18 scientific researchers from Guizhou, Sichuan, Guangdong, Yunnan and Guangxi made academic reports to the conference in turn, they described in detail the planting of avocados in their respective provinces, and explained from the current situation of the industry, pest control, market share, etc., while comparing the latest planting technology and market scale in Europe and the United States and other countries, and further looking forward to the development prospects of this industry in China.

Statistics obtained by researchers show that domestic consumers are increasingly aware of the high nutritional value of avocados, and demand is growing explosively, "the difference between domestic planting area and demand is huge, and the number of imports has accounted for 99% of the total demand." Researchers pointed out that with the continuous enhancement of the demand of Chinese consumers for a better life, the development potential of this industry is huge, and the industrial prospects are very broad.

Everyone agreed that the introduction of avocado in China's tropical and subtropical regions began in the 1970s and 1980s, and Hainan and Guangxi, Guangdong, Yunnan and other places were first opened.

However, more than 40 years ago, the domestic market was immature, the flavor of avocados was not accepted by consumers, and after successful trial planting in many provinces, there was no special funding and manpower to do specific research, and soon no longer insisted on planting.

In the course of academic exchanges at the conference, some speakers pointed out that the more effective trial and introduction of seeds were Guangxi and Hainan, "the two places respectively introduced and bred a number of excellent varieties suitable for local planting." ”

Farmers in Baisha, Hainan Are the beneficiaries of this wave of introduced species. In 1989, the Institute of Thermal Sciences established a 500-mu avocado production base in Baisha, and to this day, the output of avocados in Baisha ranks first in Hainan. The skin is smooth, the flesh is soft and sticky, the flavor is pure, and it is sold for up to 4 months every summer.

At present, the cultivation of avocados in Hainan is mainly concentrated in the west, and there are plants in Chengmai, Danzhou, Changjiang, Dongfang and other places, with a total area of more than 7,000 mu.

The seminar lasted all day, during the meeting, the Haikou Station of the Institute of Thermal Sciences took the lead in preparing for the establishment of the national "Oilews Industry Alliance", which intends to gather national scientific research forces to jointly meet the upcoming healthy and rapid development of the industry.
