On May 10, a reporter from Chuanguan News walked into the wastewater treatment center of Kimou (Southwest Qingshen) Surface Treatment Circular Economy Industrial Park in Qingshen Economic Development Zone, Sichuan, and saw such a scene.

Generally speaking, surface treatment involves many industrial fields such as automobile manufacturing, machinery manufacturing, and electronic manufacturing, and in the process of surface treatment, waste water, exhaust gas, waste solids and other substances are generally generated, which also marks surface treatment enterprises with the label of "high pollution".
In May last year, the park was officially put into use, as the only electroplating park built and operated in the Chengdu metropolitan area, which can provide one-stop surface treatment services for manufacturing enterprises within a radius of 150 to 200 kilometers.
Focusing on Qingshen, the local machinery manufacturing as the focus of development, while ensuring product quality and promoting the overall transformation and upgrading of the industry and green development, how to achieve the transformation and upgrading of new industrialization? The answer may be found by understanding the park's pollution control path.
Walking into the park, on the second floor of the wastewater treatment center 9 meters underground, 17 pipes of different thicknesses are marked with different labels such as "chromium-containing wastewater, cadmium-containing wastewater, and comprehensive wastewater". "These pipes were buried in the ground at the beginning of the construction of the plant, and the company can separate the wastewater into different collection pipes according to its own production needs." Zhang Guotian introduced that after the wastewater enters the corresponding treatment system, the water pollutants are treated through advanced technology to realize the reduction of wastewater treatment and the comprehensive utilization of resources.

Why are there 17 types of pipes that recycle wastewater?
"It's not easy to turn wastewater into standard water. The more detailed the type of wastewater, the faster and better the treatment efficiency. Zhang Guotian introduced that the wastewater treatment center has a sludge transfer system, a biochemical system, an ion exchange system, a physical and chemical system, a reuse system and other subdivisions and partitions, which are the key links in the treatment of wastewater. After a variety of processes such as physicochemical, biochemical, deep oxidation, and ion exchange, it takes 3 days for a drop of wastewater to be discharged from collection and treatment to the standard, of which 60% is recycled and 40% is discharged.

Another reason why the pipeline is so subdivided is that it is necessary to take into account the types of companies that are more occupied.
"At the beginning of the construction of the park, the situation of manufacturing enterprises in Sichuan was investigated, and these 17 types of wastewater pipelines can basically cover most of the types of wastewater generated by surface treatment in Sichuan." Zhou Xiaoyong, general manager of Sichuan Kimou Environmental Protection Technology Co., Ltd., said that the construction of all environmental protection facilities in the park has been laid out in advance, exceeding the current industry standard.

"The settlement of surface treatment enterprises in the park is a two-way selection process." Zhou Xiaoyong said frankly that the current implementation of the enterprise access mechanism in the park puts forward high requirements for automatic production, clean production, technological innovation and other aspects of enterprises, and also eliminates backward production capacity through the exit mechanism, which promotes the use of clean and environmentally friendly electroplating raw materials from the side and boosts the optimization and upgrading of the production process of enterprises.
Throughout the province, the park in the form of "factory in a factory" is not a new thing, but it is rare to concentrate on surface treatment.
"With the development of the industry, it will become a trend for electroplating enterprises to enter the park, and many cities and states in the province are also actively promoting the concentrated development of the electroplating industry." Zhang Jun of the Department of Economy and Information Technology of the Department of Environment and Comprehensive Utilization of Resources said that the centralized treatment of wastewater, waste gas and waste residue can not only reduce the overall cost of treatment and reduce the risk of environmental pollution, but also accelerate the upgrading of the production capacity of the electroplating industry and promote the green and sustainable development of the industry.
From a park to the development of a region's manufacturing industry, the electroplating park solves the problem of insufficient supporting capacity in surface treatment at the end of Qingshen's manufacturing industry. Xiao Jiefeng, deputy director of the Management Committee of Sichuan Qingshen Economic Development Zone, said that with the subsequent completion of the park, Qingshen is expected to become an important supporting base for the development of modern high-end equipment manufacturing and automobile industry in southwest China in the future, and the back-end supporting projects will also become the "engine" of new industrial transformation.
