Journal of Mountain Science (JMS) is an international English-language academic journal dedicated to mountain scientific research, which is supervised by the Chinese Academy of Sciences, sponsored by the Chengdu Institute of Mountain Hazards and Environment of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, published by Science Press, and exclusively distributed by Springer overseas.
Founded in 2004 and indexed by SCI in 2007, Journal of Mountain Science is one of the five academic journals in the world that focus on mountain research and are included in SCI. It was published quarterly from 2004 to 2010, bimonthly from 2011 to 2015, and monthly from 2016.
The Journal of Mountain Science has distinctive international characteristics, with editorial board members and scientific editors from 23 countries (regions) and international organizations on 5 continents around the world, authors from more than 80 countries and regions, and reviewers from 90 countries around the world.
The Journal of Mountain Science mainly reports research papers and reviews on the evolution and sustainable development of mountain environment under the influence of natural conditions and human activities. The main contents of the report include: mountain scientific research in the context of climate change, mountain environmental evolution and its relationship with human activities, mountain ecosystem degradation and restoration, the dynamic process and prevention theory and technology of mountain disasters focusing on debris flow, landslide and soil erosion, mountain watershed management and development governance, protection and development of mountain characteristic resources, cultural diversity and ethnic economic development in mountain areas, ethnic minority issues and residents' welfare in mountain areas, etc.
Journal of Mountain Science has been included in more than 20 important databases at home and abroad, including SpringerLink, CNKI full-text database, Wanfang Data Knowledge Service Platform, VIP Journal Network, Web of Science, Scopus, CABI, GeoRef, Geobase, CSA, OCLC, Google Scholar, CSCD and other index and abstract databases.
