Almsgiving is a Buddhist term, that is, sharing money and physical objects with others, as the Ming Dynasty's Good Book "Four Precepts of The Four Precepts of The Fan" says: "Giving up wealth for blessings." What is a blessing in disguise? Of the ten thousand good deeds in Buddhism, generosity is the most important. When it comes to generosity, there is only one word for giving, and everything is willing to give, which is in line with the meaning of the Buddha.

Some people refuse to give alms, mainly because the "greedy" mentality is at work: greed is the pursuit of external things, yours is mine, this is greed; miserliness is that no one else can touch me.

Master Nan Huaijin said: "I don't know what generosity and charity are, all beings in this world don't know what real generosity is, nor do they know what the results of generosity are, they think that if they give money, they have merit, they think that if they help people, they deserve to be rewarded, and what they say is to have alms to get, this mentality is not almsgiving, this is business!" ”

So, what exactly is true generosity? In fact, Master Nan Huaijin believes that the real generosity is not to give up wealth, but to do the following 2 "small things". Let's take a look!

01, smile more;

Children laugh easily, and their smiles are simple, because their minds are not bound, they have no scruples, and they laugh when they want to. But adults carry the pressure of a calm life, from calm to indifferent, often stretching their faces and pretending to be mature and serious. Ordinary people are very nervous, that is a face of debt collection, in fact, a smile will relax, it is good, good for themselves and others.

People with a straight face cannot be kind to their surroundings, and they have the least heart to give, and they will also lead to inner bitterness because of the vitriol of the appearance. As Mr. Hu Shi said in the article "My Mother": "I have gradually come to understand that the most disgusting thing in the world is like an angry face; the most vulgar thing in the world is like putting an angry face to others." It's worse than scolding. ”

In today's society, many people have a bitter face or resentment, feel that others owe him money, and they are worried all day long, and every cell on their face is tense. A person can't even do such a small thing as a smile, how can he be harsh on him to have a benevolent heart?

Nan Huaijin: The real generosity is not to give up money, but to do these 2 "small things"

In the "Cai Gen Tan", it is said: "When you encounter a person who is silent and silent, and you must not lose your heart; when you see a person who is sad and self-righteous, you should guard your mouth", when you encounter a person with a gloomy expression and a taciturn expression, do not push your heart to show your heart; when you encounter a person who is full of anger and self-righteousness, you must be careful not to talk much in front of him.

This is how the ancients judged whether a person's expression was friendly and kind, and probably judged whether the person's heart was good or evil, and then decided whether to communicate or not.

On the other hand, those hundred-year-old literary masters, which are not kind, smiling, and fraternal, the older they are, the more gentle they are. For example, Bing Xin, Yang Dai, Ba Jin, Qi Gong, Ji Xianlin, Zhou Youguang, Nan Huaijin and so on.

Smile a smile for ten years, a smile to solve a thousand sorrows, happy is a day, unhappy is also a day. The cost of a smile is the lowest, and it can also warm the people around you, and smart people know how to treat people with a smile. Just like Master Nan Huaijin: "Cultivators first learn to laugh, immortals can't do it, only rejoice and don't worry", cultivators want to become immortals, there is no other way, as long as all troubles and pains are thrown away and let go, always happy, so that they will cultivate into immortals.

You see the big-bellied Maitreya Buddha, always laughing, a face of spring light, Maitreya Buddha in front of a couplet: "The big belly can tolerate, tolerate the things that are difficult to tolerate in the world; open your mouth and laugh, laugh at the ridiculous people in the world." Therefore, Master Nan Huaijin suggested that everyone learn Maitreya Buddha first, learn Buddhism first learn to laugh, and those who often smile will have their hearts demon retreat.

The key to generosity is to give, and smiling at others is the simplest and most effective way to give, because a smile can warm people's hearts and freeze the indifference and estrangement between people. As Master Nan Huaijin said, "Remember, a smile is a big house!" In the future, for your own happiness, don't be sad. ”

02, do your best to raise your hand;

In Buddhism, there is also a kind of generosity called fearless generosity, that is, using one's own internal and external wealth, knowledge, wisdom, and words to soothe people's hearts when others are in distress and hardship, so that people's bodies and minds are stable and free from fear.

In fact, this kind of generosity is not a blessing of wealth, but to save the world, to do a little of their own hand-raising, to help others, warm people's hearts. For example, you help a colleague carry a courier, you give up a seat to the elderly on the bus, you can even help a friend in the circle of friends and so on.

For example, Master Nan Huaijin said: A clerk, spend one more minute, say two more good words, and in the future, he will be able to produce future generations. Because he does the work of raising his hand, he will accumulate yin virtue and will benefit future generations.

Nan Huaijin: The real generosity is not to give up money, but to do these 2 "small things"

People come to your office, ask you to help with things, you take more time to tell him to bring id cards, seals, what to bring, so that people don't run twice, this is charity! On the contrary, if you tell others that the undertaker takes leave today and does not go to work tomorrow, causing people to travel back and forth in vain, this is not charity, but a career!

Master Nan Huaijin said, "What is generosity?" It is to give convenience to others everywhere, to help others a little bit on the mouth and at hand, that is, to give alms, but also to provide! ”

Therefore, in life, we must have empathy, help others if we can, and do more to raise our hands, which is not only to help others, but also to accumulate virtue for ourselves, which can be described as "helping others for fun"!

epilogue:

Some people think that donation is real almsgiving, but it is not, because giving up money to donate money is known as a yang goodness. There is a good man, everyone knows him, praises him, and he enjoys the good name of the world. Since he has enjoyed the good name, that is to say, he has received the blessing, and if he asks for too much extravagance, he will be jealous of heaven and earth.

Therefore, Mr. Cao Dewang, the first good entrepreneur, said: "Doing a good deed is actually a blessing accumulated for yourself, and you should thank others for finding an opportunity for you, and at the same time respect the mood of the recipient." ”

Yin Virtue, Heavenly Retribution; Yang Goodness, Enjoy the World's Fame! Whoever has yin virtue will naturally know and reward him, and the blessings will be greater. Therefore, we must accumulate more yin virtue and strive to do more real generosity!

What is true generosity? Remember Nan Huaijin's teachings, do more of the above 2 things - smile more, raise your hands more, and good luck will come uninvited!

To put it bluntly, these two kinds of generosity are what Lao Tzu said in the Tao Te Ching, "I have the love of one of the Three Jewels", and I am kind and loving to all things! Friends, are you willing to give to others?
