Nan Huaijin: The Three Precepts and Three Fears of Life

Confucius said: A gentleman has three precepts: when he is young, the flesh and qi are undecided, and the precepts are in color; his strength is strong, the flesh and qi are strong, and the precepts are fighting; and his old age, the flesh and qi are decaying, and the precepts are gained.

These are all things that we are all familiar with. Confucius divided life into three stages, and he famously said that people should be cautious. When we add age, experience, psychological, and physiological experience, the more we know the profound meaning of these three sentences.

If there is excessive greed between men and women, many people will only reach the age of thirty or forty, and their bodies will be destroyed. There are many middle-aged and elderly diseases, because of the sexual behavior in adolescence, there is no "abstinence", and the cause is planted.

Chinese studied the study of "sex" very thoroughly, which was medical, but it was very pitiful, and it was too much morally obscured, but it made this science unable to develop, so that the health of the people was hindered.

As far as I know, in the past, there was hardly a teenager in primary and secondary schools who did not commit masturbation, and parents should be careful! In Germany in the Nazi era, teenagers wore shorts, and when they slept at night, they tied their hands and put them outside the quilt, which was hygienic and for the superiority of the Germanic nation.

This is excessive, but it is very beneficial in terms of education. Now the younger generation thinks that girls are willing to marry rich old people, husbands are dead, and there are rich people to remarry anyway; boys are influenced by certain foreign movies and like to fall in love with middle-aged women.

This is the general ethos and a serious problem. Therefore, after knowing the thinking of teenagers, we found that our education problems are many. As for foreign countries, such as young men and women in the United States, they are very reluctant to get married, afraid of being responsible after marriage, and just playing, so that society is in chaos.

This is a big problem in human culture, so Confucius said: "The flesh is uncertain, and the precepts are in color." This sentence really plays out, there are many problems, sexual psychology education, to pay special attention.

There is a novel "The Appearance of Officialdom", which describes a person who is an official who is addicted, lying on the bed at home when he is dying, and has entered a state of death, at this time he has only one idea in his heart: he is still an official, and he still has an official addiction.

Another lieutenant read, "Old man owes peace, block the car!" "He listened to it. I used to think that this novel was written too sarcastically; when I got older, I knew that I was not sarcastic, and there were indeed many people of this category.

When some people are doing things, they are full of life, and after retirement, they are idle at home and worried. In addition, there was another person who heard that he had built a famous building and was already very rich, and a general asked him, since he was so rich and so old, what was he doing desperately to make money?

The old gentleman replied that it was precisely because he was old that he was desperately trying to make money, and if he did not make money again, there would not be many opportunities. What is this philosophy of life? A friend said that an old gentleman, also very rich, specially deposited US dollars, every day before going to sleep, must open the safe, take out the US dollars to count again, before falling asleep.

Reading this kind of story, I feel more and more that the cultivation of "abstinence" is too important, and it is only for the sake of fame and profit. Life can see these truths openly, you can experience it, it is quite comfortable, otherwise in the evening, your own spirit is not arranged, it is very painful, so Confucius's three precepts of life are worth vigilance.

Confucius said: Gentlemen have three fears: fear of the Mandate of Heaven, fear of adults, and fear of the words of saints. The villain does not know the destiny of heaven and is not afraid, and he insults the words of the saints.

Here the so-called fear is respect, life is fearless, it is really very dangerous, only two kinds of people can be fearless, one is the first-class wisdom of the people, one is the most stupid person, can not be afraid. This is a philosophical question, and like religious belief, I often advise friends that it is good to have a religious belief, no matter which religion you believe in, you can find a spiritual dependence in your old age.

But when it comes to religious beliefs, there are people of the first class of wisdom, and there are also the most stupid people, and it is difficult for the people in the middle to have religious beliefs.

If there is no fear in life, fearlessness is over, for example, all of you here, is there anything terrible? There must be, what if you are afraid of getting old? What is the future? What if I don't have money? What should I do if I don't have a car to sit in? They are afraid, they are afraid all day long. Life is to find someone to be afraid of. Confucius taught us to find fear, and we can't do without fear.

The first "fear of the Mandate of Heaven" is equivalent to religious belief, and ancient China did not have the form of religion, but had religious philosophy. A university president said: "A very simple sentence, the more you say it, the more people do not understand, is philosophy." ”

Although this is a joke, it is quite reasonable, which shows the difficulty of philosophy. The Chinese countryman is often a great philosopher who knows philosophy very well because he believes in fate. As for fate, what is it? He didn't know, that everything was good or bad anyway, that it was fate, that this was philosophy, that his thoughts had a center.

The same is true of the Mandate of Heaven, and the three words of "fear of the Mandate of Heaven" include all religious beliefs, belief in God, God, and Buddha. These are all "fearful destiny". Only when a person is afraid can he succeed, and when a person reaches nothing, he will not succeed.

The second point is "fear of the adult", this adult does not necessarily command the official to do a big job. Only by being afraid of parents, elders, and morally learned people can we achieve success.

The third "fear of the words of the saints", like when we read the Analects, when we read the Four Books and Five Classics, when Christians read the Bible, when Buddhists read the Buddhist scriptures, these are the words of the saints, for fear of violating the words of the saints.

As long as we study the successful figures in history, they must have something psychological, in ordinary philosophy, that is, to find a thing of faith, a doctrine, a purpose as the center, if there is no such center, it is finished. Confucius said that, on the contrary, the villain does not know the Destiny of Heaven, so he is not afraid.

"Lord Fox", toying with others, distrusting everything, not being afraid of the words of the saints, and achieving nothing. There are also many truths in this, history, politics, philosophy, all have a relationship, ancient and modern Chinese and foreign history, all those who have created, always have to find a hat to wear.

Speaking of this, we think of a story: there are two snakes of different sizes, to cross the street, the big snake wants to swing over, the small snake does not dare to go over, stop the big snake and say, so that you and I will both be killed when crossing the street. The big snake asked what to do? The little snake said that there was a way to go over, not only not to be killed, but also to build the Dragon King Temple for us.

The great snake asked him what he could do? The little snake said, you still hold your head high and swing it around, but let me stand on your head and go along. In this way, not only were we not killed, but people looked at it and felt strange, and they must think that the Dragon King had come out and set up an incense case to worship us. He also sent us to a place to build a Dragon King Temple.

As a result, the streets were crossed according to this method, and sure enough, the locals built a Dragon King Temple after seeing it. This story makes a lot of sense in its analysis, so for a career to be successful, it is often a fear to top it. So there is a friend to do business, I advise him to casually top a small snake to be the chairman, do not be the general manager, just be a deputy general manager. After slowly crossing the street, after success, there is a big Dragon King Temple anyway, there is a cool place, and if there is no success, you can have less things.

There is also a story that in ancient times, there was a prince whose reputation was already very high, and he had to travel around the world to cultivate his own prestige. At this time, an old man from the countryside suddenly came, holding a broken umbrella under his armpit, not oppressing the public, not looking amazing, claiming to be the master of the king, saying that he could be the emperor's teacher, help the world, and ask to see the prince.

After the briefing, the prince extended his meeting, and this old man said, I heard that you are going to go abroad, but this is not going to work, you have to worship me as a teacher, you must hold me everywhere, when you are feasting on you in various countries, the big seat must let me sit, so that you can succeed.

The prince asked him what was the reason for this? The old man said, I thought you were very clever, I understood it when I mentioned it, you still don't understand, so you can see that you are stupid. Now tell you that you were born a prince, you will never sit in a second position, and your reputation in the international arena is already so high, and if you visit again, it will not increase much.

Sometimes I give up a good position to others to sit down, and I help carry the car next to me, which is very comfortable. This is the truth of the gentleman's three fears, we must find a fear of ourselves, and it is a kind of morality to do it sincerely. If there is nothing to fear, go to a religion, and if there is nothing terrible, go home and pretend to be afraid of the wife.

This is really a philosophy, I found that a person with thought and faith, his achievements are absolutely different, when a person has nothing to do with himself, it is easy to be the beginning of failure, otherwise, it is better to go home and worship Guanyin Bodhisattva.
