Maxi Rodriguez, who is about to turn 38, debuted at Newell Boys, having played for Newell Boys twice in 1999-2002 and 2012-2017.

In addition, Maxi has played for Espanyol in La Liga, Atletico Madrid, Liverpool in the Premier League, and Penarol in the Uruguayan first division.

He joined Penarol last July and helped the team win the Uruguayan First Division.

For the national team, Maxi Rodriguez represented the Argentine national team in the 2006, 2010 and 2014 World Cups, and in the penalty shootout against the Netherlands in the semi-final of the 2014 World Cup, it was he who scored the winning penalty to help Argentina reach the final.

This season, Maxi made 28 appearances for Penarol in the Uzumca, scoring eight goals.
