This is the "dress worn by Empress Myeongseong of Joseon when she married" (Figure 1) exhibited at the 1893 Chicago Exposition, and you can see several large Chinese characters on the clothes - "the source of ten thousand blessings, the combination of two surnames". Of course, at that time, Emperor Gaozong Li Xi had not yet been proclaimed emperor, so Empress Mingcheng could only be called "Concubine Min" (Figure 2, the photo is disputed).
However, no matter what the title, this woman has extraordinary courage and ability, she and the foreign relatives behind her are the people who can really influence the direction of the peninsula, while Gaozong Li Xi is more like a puppet.
But it was precisely because of the huge power of the Min Fei clique that after its fall to Russia, the Japanese jumped the wall, and on October 8, 1895, the Japanese minister Miura Wu lou personally led the Japanese ronin into the palace to assassinate Min Fei, that is, the "B Wei Incident" (Figure 3).
