They often move and feed in small groups of 2-3 individually or in small groups, with habits similar to those of other flowerpeckers, preferring to jump on rattan or fly between flowers. Arboreal, mainly active in the upper canopy, especially in trees with ripe soft fruits or parasitic plants. Sexually active, in a hurry, often pecking at a few berries on one tree, and then hurriedly flying to another tree, climbing and foraging on the tree, often twisting the tail back and forth. The call is a hoarse zit-zit-zit-zit sound. It feeds mainly on insect and plant fruits, especially the fruits of parasitic plants. It also eats flowers, pollen, nectar, and a small amount of animal foods such as insects and spiders.

The breeding season is April in Myanmar, June in India and July in Nepal. Nesting on a tree, the nest is like a small money bag, woven from plant fibers and spider webs, the nest is soft and delicate, usually suspended on a small horizontal branch, and the entrance and exit of the nest are just below the branches of the nest. It is 1.5-10 meters above the ground and is more exposed. Because the nest is often red, it is easy to mistake it for dead autumn leaves. Sometimes some green moss, spider egg shells, caterpillar droppings, small pieces of bark and leaves are attached to the outside of the nest, which is shared by male and female birds. An average of 3 eggs are laid per clutch, the eggs are white and 16 cm in size×11 cm in size.
