Its natural habitats are broad-leaved forests, secondary broad-leaved forests and montane forests in the low hills and foothill plains below 1500 meters above sea level. In summer, it is also often up to 1500-3000 meters of broad-leaved forests and mixed coniferous and broad-leaved forests. It inhabits open villages, fields, hills, valleys and other secondary broad-leaved forests, or among trees along streams. It can sometimes be seen in the middle and lower layers of primary forests. It is also sometimes found in artificial coniferous forests, tea plantations and orchards. It breeds in dense montane forests and migrates to warm areas at low altitudes in autumn and winter for wintering. In addition to the breeding period, which is active alone or in pairs, in other seasons, there are often small groups of 3-5 animals, which are active at the top of high trees, and sometimes mixed with embroidered birds and other groups. Flock activity is more common in groups on blooming trees, especially in the winter and dry seasons, when the flowers and fruits are not as lush as in spring and summer. In mid-February, a group of about 10-20 animals were seen feeding on the flowering Privet trees on the edge of the creek near Simao, Yunnan, China. The bird is small and lively, jumping quickly, not very afraid of people, and easy to observe. The sound is like "tik-tik-tik-tik" is low but loud, often chirping for a long time; sometimes it turns to a soft and slightly vibrato "Zi-Zi-Zi" sound. The flight ability is strong, the flight speed is also fast, and it often sounds while flying. Glutinous substances on berry-loving and mistletoe-parasitic fruits that inhabit evergreen trees. The breeding season is from April to July. Nests are found on broad-leaved trees at a height of 3-6 meters above the ground, and in July, red-breasted pecks are also found nesting on taller trees such as chestnuts, 5-6 meters above the ground. There are also other areas as low as 3 meters or so. The nest is oval-shaped, sac-shaped, mainly made of plant fibers, seed hairs, inflorescences, spider silk and other materials. It is usually suspended at the end of a small branch, surrounded by green leaf cover, and is generally difficult to find. The nest mouth is mostly located on the near-upper side, the size of the nest is 6 cm in outer diameter, 10 cm in height, and the size of the nest mouth is 1.5-2.5 cm. Each clutch lays 2-3 eggs, white, 13.7-16.6 mm in size× 10.0-10.9 mm in size.
