Vermilion-backed pecking birds

author:Animal Adventures

The vermilion-backed peck, a genus of flowerpeckers in the family Peckeridae, is smaller, slightly larger than our thumbs. The average weight is about 6.3 grams, and the body size is particularly small. It is found in subtropical or tropical humid lowland forests, subtropical or tropical dry forests and rural gardens in Brunei, Laos, Bangladesh, Bhutan, China, Vietnam, India, Thailand, Indonesia, Myanmar, Malaysia, Nepal, Singapore and Cambodia. The conservation status of this species is classified as non-hazardous by the International Union of Natural Hazards. They get their name from pecking at nectar and the bright red color on the back of the male. They like to jump through the canopy of blooming flowers, they like to eat nectar, paddles or hunt insects, and sometimes their mouths, heads and feathers are stained with pollen, invisibly pollinating plants.
