Yellow-bellied ferret, also known as shiitake wolf, small yellow wolf, carnivorous ferret subfamily ferret genus, there are 2 subspecies differentiation: named subspecies, Kashmiri subspecies. It is found in southern China, the Indochina Peninsula and India, and mostly inhabits montane forests, grasses, low hills, farmland and villages. Fierce in temperament and quick in action. The diet is mainly rodents, and like other ferrets, whether hungry or full, they catch rats when they are hungry or full. Fish, frogs, insects and berries are also eaten.

The snout is short and smaller than the weasel. The tail is long and thin, greater than half the length of the body. The body is covered with short hairs; the tail hair is slightly longer, but not fluffy. The claws are short and slightly thin, the front and back toes and palm pads are very developed, and the palms have sparse short hairs. The upper body back is coffee brown , the head , neck , back , limbs and tail are consistent with the dorsal color , and the tail end is black. The abdomen is sandy yellow from the throat down the neck to the shrew and the elbows of the limbs. The coats on the lower lip and jaw are lighter and creamy white. The inter-ventral dividing line is straight and clear.

Cave dwelling, which mainly occupies the holes of other animals as a nest, and sometimes makes nests in stone piles or tree holes. There is little activity during the day, and it is generally at dusk, especially at night. Their range of activity is not wide, and they follow a certain route in and out, and there are often "animal paths" formed by their passage on grassy smooth fields or small hills. Single or in pairs, swim, but rarely get up trees. During breeding, males compete for females, breeding once a year, giving birth to 2-5 litters at a time.
