Yu Shan, born from the Yu clan of the Shaoxing Wang clan, was born from The Gansu Tixue envoy Yu Mingzhen, and was also the "Geshishi" who Lu Xun repeatedly mentioned in lu xun's diary.
At the age of 18, Zhou Shuren went to Japan with the encouragement of his mentor Yu Mingzhen, and at the same time, Yu Mingzhen's son Yu Dachun crossed the east to Japan.
In 1908, Yu Dachun's daughter Yu Shan was born in Tokyo, and soon after Yu Shan was born, Yu Dachun returned to Shanghai with his wife and daughter.

In 1924, 16-year-old Yu Shan, under the arrangement of her family, entered the Nankai Girls' High School to study. In 1928, Tian Han directed the one-act drama "Tragedy on the Lake" at Jinling University in Nanjing, and met the 20-year-old Yu Shan by chance, who had a pair of "golden eyes" and a seductive temperament, which deeply touched Tian Han's heart.

In 1929, Tian Han and the 21-year-old Yu Shan met at the Shanghai National Conservatory of Music, and Tian Han immediately warmly invited Yu Shan to join the Nanguo Society, and told Yu Shan that he wanted Yu Shan to star in "Salome". But think of it, the current social customs on women's confinement, many female roles, can only be played by men. In order to break through the prejudice of different men and women in the society, Yu Shan still overcame all the worries in her heart and bravely agreed to Tian Han's request. In order to pursue the most large stage effect, Tian Han made a careful design for Yu Shan's styling costumes.
Sure enough, the elaborate drama "Salome" caused quite a stir as soon as it was launched. Shi Jihan once recalled in the book "Visiting the Southern Drama": "The seats in the audience that night were only about three hundred, and I did not expect that the audience actually came to more than four hundred. ”

Yu Shan, who plays Salome, has charmed countless audiences, including cultural celebrities such as Liang Shiqiu, with an amazing style, and even Xu Zhimo, whose eyes are above the top, has personally gone to cheer for Yu Shan and give Yu Shan a spittoon.
