8 pieces of porcelain sold for 113 million! Only good things can maintain and increase in value, and it is an iron law of the market!

At Sotheby's Hong Kong's Spring Auction 2022, which opened on April 24, a special auction was held on April 29, "Royal Garden Treasures – Treasures", all from Hong Kong's richest man and collector Liu Luanxiong. There are a total of 8 pieces (groups) of Ming and Qing Dynasty porcelain, from Ming Dynasty Yongle Qinghua to Qianlong Glaze Red, each of which is a museum-level classic porcelain, and the lowest price of the whole auction is about HK$103 million.

In today's auction, 8 lots were all sold, half of the lots exceeded 10 million, with a total turnover of HK$113 million, which was basically in line with pre-auction expectations. This auction also once again confirms the extreme importance of the "fine art consciousness" of art collection, especially in the case of market fluctuations affected by the epidemic in recent years, only good things can maintain and increase in value, which is an iron law of the market.

Liu Luanxiong, ranked sixth in the "2022 Hong Kong Rich List", has been collecting since the late 1980s, including antique porcelain, Chinese and Western paintings, sculptures, famous wines and so on.

Liu Luanxiong has always been regarded by insiders as a "big predator in the collection world", and Sotheby's described "Liu Luanxiong's name, which is an outstanding symbol in the world of universal collection." Qiu Guoshi, chairman of Sotheby's Asia, also said: "Liu's strict selection of rare porcelain from prominent old collections, the utensils stored are all outstanding, which can be called the crown of the dynasty category." ”
