This azure color belongs to the Ru kiln, the first of the five famous kilns in China.
Peerless Ru porcelain, that touch of azure color
Ru kiln fired porcelain is the main representative porcelain of the Northern Song Dynasty, known in the history of Chinese ceramics "Ru kiln for the kui" reputation, is one of the famous traditional Chinese porcelain craft, kiln site in present-day Baofeng County Daying Town Qingliang Temple Village, because produced in Henan Ruzhou and named.
Henan Ruzhou has unique advantages in kaolin, quartz and charcoal resources, which is the natural environment on which Ruyao kilns rely for survival and passing on the torch.
Ru porcelain, the collective name of celadon fired in the Ru kiln of the Song Dynasty, the soil is fine, the green body is like a carcass, with precious agate as the glaze, the color is unique, with the light changes, look at its glaze color, like "rain over the sky blue clouds broken", "a thousand peaks blue waves emerald color". There are less than 100 ancient Ru porcelain in existence today, and its scarcity can be seen, which is called "even if there is a wealth of money, it is not as good as Ru porcelain".
Why are Ru kilns so scarce?
The scarcity of Ru kilns is caused by several factors:
First, the firing time of the Ru kiln is very short, only about 20 years, coupled with its complex firing process and extremely low yield, so the production quantity should be very limited;
Second, the Ru kiln is an official kiln, which is a tribute imperial vessel, and it is glazed with agate, which seems to be very precious at that time, so the scale and quantity of production are greatly limited;
Third, as a product of the central official kiln, the imperial court controlled the Ruguan kiln very strictly, and the beautiful azure glazed Ru porcelain was exclusively for the royal use, and the qualified products were selected into the palace, while the other unqualified products were all smashed on the spot and buried deep on the spot.

There is also a poetic story about the origin of the color of Ru porcelain, legend has it that one day Song Huizong had a dream, glimpsed the azure color of the clouds after heavy rain, and after waking up, he was very emotional, wanted to see its appearance again, and immediately ordered people to burn this "azure color" on porcelain.
For a time, I don't know how many craftsmen were stumped, and finally Ruzhou's craftsmen were superior and burned a azure color that satisfied Song Huizong. And azure glaze has become a typical feature of Ru porcelain.
