In the history of the development of the Ming Dynasty, the Zhengde Dynasty is definitely a magical existence. Both politically and militarily, there are peculiarities, and the ideological and cultural fields are also very different from the past. Although the Zhengde era was only a short period of 16 years, its development in porcelain should not be underestimated, and the upper Chenghua, Hongzhi, lower Qijiajing and Wanli played a crucial role in the transformation of Chinese porcelain style.
The porcelain of the Zhengde Dynasty was still dominated by blue and white. Early products, glazed tires are white and delicate, have a jade feel, the color is beautiful and elegant, and full of Chenghua relics. The middle and late period is the typical blue flower of Zhengde, although its tire quality is fine and clean, it is obviously thick and heavy, the glaze color is grayish blue, and the instrument type is rich. In terms of colored porcelain, Zhengde's susancai can be said to be a brilliant pressure group of fangs, mainly yellow, green, blue, purple, no red, generally need two or even three times fired.
Zhengde's typical blue and white porcelain types are diverse, and in addition to display, there are also many daily necessities such as incense burners, candlesticks, and pen washes. There are large passages in Arabic on it, and this part of the vessel is not a reward for foreign countries or for export, but is only for the imperial court to display and live. This is also the most unique place about porcelain of that period.
For reasons of peculiarity, first of all, we must understand that the Zhengde Emperor himself is not an ordinary monarch. On September 19, 1505, on the eleventh day after the death of the Hongzhi Emperor, the crown prince Zhu Houzhao ascended the throne, the tenth king of the Ming Dynasty. According to historical records, he was also very good and diligent during the princely period, but preferred to ride horses and shoot arrows. After becoming an emperor, he completely liberated his nature, he gave himself the title of a great general, personally led the army out on the expedition, and the palace did not live, and he liked to stay in his own other hall. At the same time, he also unusually promoted the custom of "halal", which made Islam popular in Zhengde for a while.
The birthplace of Islam is in the Arabian Peninsula, and by the 8th century it has developed into a world religion across Asia, Europe and Africa, and is called the three major religions of the world together with Buddhism and Christianity. According to islamic teachings, it is forbidden to make and depict images of people and animals in related works of art.
The earliest persian or Arabic decorations found on porcelain date back to the Tang Dynasty, but before Zhengde, only a little bit was depicted to serve as an embellishment, and by the Zhengde period, large sections of the Qur'an, hadith aphorisms, and words and phrases in praise of Allah Allah and the noble Saint Mohammed were inscribed on porcelain, and even some of them had formed a fixed format. At that time, this special depiction should have been more than just a decorative function, but more of a constraint and admonition.
During the Zhengde period, the Jingdezhen Imperial Instrument Field was enlarged a lot, and a large number of firing genres were born. Gradually, the fashion of small utensils prevailed during the Koji and Chenghua periods, and various large and exotic utensils that were convenient for foreigners to use were fired. In terms of instrument type, the ancient is based on the fusion of the special type system of the West. Today, when you look at the imperial porcelain of that period, it is still full of exotic styles.
In the Zhengde period, porcelain with exotic script decoration mainly consisted of Arabic or Bashiba, one type of writing was decorated together with tangled branch patterns or seawater patterns, and the other was written in a circular halo on the surface of the utensils, and spaced in a ribbon pattern.
These decorative artifacts with Arabic and Basiba script are not only precious works of art in ancient times, but also precious historical materials for the study of Emperor Zhengde of the Ming Dynasty, and valuable cultural relics for the study of the influence and spread of Islamic culture in China in the middle of the Ming Dynasty.
