Book Lake Yin Mr. Wall Two

Song Wang Anshi

The long thatched eaves are swept clean and moss-free, and the flowers and trees are planted by hand.

A water protection field will be green, and two mountains will be lined up to send green.

Translation: The thatched courtyard is often cleaned, clean without a trace of moss. Flowers and trees are lined up in rows, all planted by the owner himself. A small river outside the courtyard protects and surrounds the farmland; two large mountains open their doors to send people green.

Interpretation: After Wang Anshi's second resignation in the ninth year (1076) of Emperor Shenzong's reign, until the death of Emperor Zhezong yuanyou (1086) due to illness, he lived in the Mid-Levels Garden outside Jinling for ten years. During this time, Wang Anshi had a close relationship with Yang Defeng, who lived in seclusion in the Purple Mountain. "Two Poems of Mr. ShuhuYin Wall" is a group of poems inscribed by Wang Anshi on the wall of Yang Defeng's house.

The first two sentences of the poem write about the environment of the home, clean and quiet, suggesting the elegance of the owner's taste for life; the last two sentences turn to the courtyard to write the deep affection of the landscape for Mr. Huyin, secretly using allusions, turning the landscape into an image with life feelings, and the landscape takes the initiative to be close to people, which is to show the purity of people.
