In "Du Fu's Chengdu Poetry - Alai Lecture Series", he takes Du Fu's works in Chengdu as a clue to interpret the "aesthetic tone of Chengdu City" created by Du Fu's poems, showing a long historical volume of mutual achievements between the city and poets.

With the theme of "Rain Outside the Hall and Qianjiang", Alai interprets a series of Du poems such as "Plum Rain", "Happy Rain on Spring Night", "Jiang Sheng", "Tian She", etc., telling about the infiltration of the rain in Chengdu on the poet.
"Du Fu was the first person in history to create pastoral poetry for Chengdu, and the first person to set the tone for the beauty of Chengdu's humanities and the beauty of nature, and it was set very accurately." Alai explained that this kind of cultural accumulation and inheritance is the greatest significance of studying Du Fu, remembering Du Fu, and analyzing Du Fu today.

In the two-hour lecture, Ah Lai went deep and simple, expounding du Fu's first coming to Chengdu, from the panic of encountering rising waters to the responsibility after getting used to it, and even with an appreciative eye to describe, with light brushstrokes to ridicule. From "get out of bed a few feet high, leaning on the staff is not in the middle of the continent" to "one night the water is two feet strong, and it cannot be forbidden for several days", to "good rain knows the season, when spring is happening", Chengdu is a rare poetic habitat for Du Fu, who has experienced upheaval and displacement. Du Fu's feelings for the rain in Chengdu are also released between the lines of the poem.

The lecture on the day attracted many teachers and students from primary and secondary schools. After the lecture, the audience enthusiastically asked questions. A primary school student asked Ah Lai: "If you encounter strange words when reading ancient poems, how can you understand the meaning of the poems?" As soon as the question is asked, the reader friends who have been dominated by the fear of reading comprehension will smile.
Ah Lai laughed and said that Du Fu had also encountered the same problem, and he said that "reading is difficult to write", which is still applicable today. "It's very common to read poems and encounter strange words, and you can guess the meaning of the words according to the context. Amateur reading does not need to find standard answers like language tests, but relies on daily accumulation to figure out and play. ”
After listening to the lecture, a Chinese teacher felt that he had benefited a lot, and was interested in why Ah Lai had studied Du Fu so deeply, and asked how he had become acquainted with Du Fu. Ah Lai confessed that he was not only related to Du Fu, but as a writer, he had already formed an indissoluble relationship with the history of Chinese poetry, not only to recite and read in the morning, but also to read through it at intervals of three or four years.
In Ah Lai, to engage in language-related work, it is necessary to write based on the language, aesthetics, experiences, and values precipitated in Chinese poetry, and the rhetorical techniques in classical poetry are still applicable today. "Why do some people send a circle of friends that are all cookie-cutter defenses, tears, and surprises? This is the word exhaustion after the perception of blunting. Alai hopes that readers, like Du Fu, observe "fine windward swallows, gently shake the wave gulls", experience "round lotus floating leaflets, fine wheat falling light flowers", continue to read, integrate what they see and understand with the classics, and have a personalized expression.
