Global smartphone shipments declined in Q1 2022, and wafer foundry giants also showed signs

Since the beginning of 2022, the demand for smart phone markets has been lower than expected, and many mobile phone manufacturers have reduced the share of shipments of related models, and the iPhone SE3 has been exposed to cut 10 million shipments. Recently, the research institute released the 2022 Q1 global smartphone shipment data: showing that the overall shipment fell by 11%, only Apple and Samsung showed a growth trend compared with the same period last year.

From the data point of view, Samsung returned to the top of the list with a 24% share with the launch of the Galaxy S22 flagship machine and the solid demand for the Galaxy A series, up from 22% in the first quarter of 2021. Apple, shipments increased to 18% from 15% in the same period last year. Not only is the iPhone 13 series released in the Q4 quarter highly acclaimed, but although the iPhone SE3 has lower than expected global sales, as the lowest priced 5G model in the iPhone camp, its sales are still considerable, especially in the carrier channel.

The three domestic mobile phone manufacturers ranked third to fifth are not so lucky. Xiaomi and OPPO, which includes one plus brand shipments, both fell by 1% year-on-year; vivo fell by 2%. It is believed that with the launch of competitive new products by several mobile phone giants, the above data will change.

The data shows that TSMC's 2022 Q1 smartphone and high-performance computing segments accounted for 40% and 41% of net revenue, respectively, while in Q4 2021, the revenue gap between smartphones and high-performance computing businesses is not so close.

But the attractiveness of the smartphone itself may be able to stimulate people's desire to change the machine to the greatest extent, let us pay attention to the new product characteristics of the next few major mobile phone manufacturers.
