According to the latest data from market research firm TechInsights, China's smartphone shipments in the first quarter of 2024 increased by 1% year-on-year to 63.3 million units. In terms of mobile phone manufacturers' shipment rankings, Apple has very rarely fallen out of the top five in the market.

According to the survey data, OPPO (including OnePlus) became the No. 1 brand in the market this quarter, but it did not have much gap with Honor and Huawei. In terms of shipments, OPPO (including OnePlus) shipped 10.7 million units, Honor 10.6 million units, and Huawei 10.5 million units.

Vivo and Xiaomi ranked fourth and fifth on the list, with Vivo shipping 10.2 million units and Xiaomi 9.5 million units.

It is worth mentioning that among the top five mobile phone manufacturers, only Huawei, Honor, and Xiaomi have achieved positive year-on-year growth, among which Huawei's performance is the most dazzling, with shipments soaring by 118.8% compared with the same period last year, far ahead of other mobile phone manufacturers.

Although Xiaomi's shipments did not exceed 10 million units this quarter, it increased by 11.8% year-on-year, and its performance has been very good. Honor saw a 1% increase, while OPPO (including OnePlus) saw its shipments plunge 14.4% and Vivo also fell 11.3%.

Apple captured a 13.7% market share in China's smartphone market in the first quarter of 2024, with about 8.7 million units shipped, largely influenced by the Huawei Mate 60 series in the high-end phone market.

Although Apple announced its second-quarter earnings report a few days ago, Apple CEO Cook said that iPhone sales in some regions, including China, have unexpectedly increased. However, according to the financial report, Apple's sales in Greater China fell by 8% in the quarter.

It is worth mentioning that Cook recently said that Apple will announce major plans related to artificial intelligence at the upcoming developer conference, which may mean that the upcoming iPhone 16 series will be blessed with many AI features, which may be able to stimulate iPhone sales.
