【New Zhiyuan Guide】In the first quarter, MediaTek's revenue and profit both hit a record high! The quarterly increase was 10.9%, and the vast 5G market greeted it.
Recently, MediaTek announced its financial report for the first quarter of 2022, with revenue of NT$142.711 billion (about NT$31.7 billion) in the first quarter, an increase of 10.9% quarter-on-quarter and 32.1% year-on-year.
In the quarter, MediaTek's operating profit was NT$36.467 billion (approximately RMB8.124 billion), or RMB90 million per day.
MediaTek's revenue and profit both hit a single-quarter record high!

MediaTek CEO Cai Lixing pointed out that the better product portfolio, the improvement of specifications and the increase in sales volume are the main reasons for its revenue growth.
Founded in 1997, MediaTek is the world's fourth-largest fab semiconductor company, and holds a leading position in the global mobile terminal, smart home application, wireless connectivity technology and Internet of Things markets.
Every year, about 1.5 billion MediaTek chips-powered end products are available around the world.
In 2020, MediaTek became the first in the global market share with the Tianji series of chips, which are mainly used in smartphone 5G processors.
According to the data, in 2021, the terminal sales volume of China's smartphone SoC market was 314 million, and MediaTek sold 110 million units, surpassing Qualcomm's 107 million units, becoming the NO.1 of China's smartphone SoC market in 2021.

Recently, data company Canalys released the 2022 Global Smartphone Report, and global smartphone shipments fell by 11% in the first quarter.
Canalys analysis believes that due to the unfavorable economic situation and seasonal demand downturn, the global mobile phone market has appeared greater uncertainty.
According to the data of the first quarter of this year, the global mobile phone shipments and market share ranked, Samsung ranked 1st, Apple ranked 2nd, and China's millet, OPPO, and vivo ranked in the top 5.

Samsung's market share is 24%, Apple's is 18%, and Samsung's super Apple is 6 points.

Compared to the same quarter last year, the markets of Samsung and Apple both maintained growth, growing by 2% and 3% respectively.
In fact, in the fourth quarter of last year, Apple surpassed Samsung and regained the crown of the global smartphone market, accounting for 22% of the global market share.
However, China's millet, OPPO, vivo as a whole fell by 4 percentage points, from 35% in 2021 to 31% this year.
In response to the uncertain market environment, various mobile phone manufacturers have actively taken various measures.
Samsung has improved its product portfolio, Apple's iPhone 13 series is in growing demand, and Xiaomi's Redmi Note series has excellent performance.
As global demand for smartphones slows, Taiwan's Economic Daily reports predicts that annual shipments this year will be the same as last year, at about 1.35 billion units.
The good news is that the global 5G mobile phone penetration rate will account for half of the market, about 660 million to 680 million units, an increase of 30% over last year.
