For Tesla, BMW has two new products: the BMW i4, which competes with the Tesla Model 3, and the iX SUV, which targets the Model X. Pieter Nota called the i4 the "ultimate electric driving machine" and the iX "the electric product that BMW consumers expect."
Orders for the i4 and iX are full, and U.S. dealers have hundreds of orders for both cars. In addition, Nota said, the subscription cycle is now about six months.
i7 flagship sedan
The i4 and iX are just the beginning of BMW's offensive against the U.S. electric vehicle market. In the next two years, the BMW Group will also launch three electric vehicles: the i7 flagship sedan launched later this year, followed by the i5 mega sedan and the MINI Countryman pure electric car launched in 2023.
