Microsoft's new Xbox Series console exposure: processor changes are stronger

Unconsciously, game consoles including Sony PS5 and Microsoft Xbox Series X/S have been on the market for some time. Only perhaps because the PS4 sales are too good and the new machine is out of stock to catch up with the global semiconductor chip shortage, the sense of existence is less.

A few days ago, Brad Sams, the whistleblower and now vice president and general manager of Stardock Software, revealed in a video program that Microsoft is developing a smaller and more energy-efficient chip for xbox.

According to outside analysis, the revised version of xbox series X/S will be announced at the Microsoft event in June this year as soon as possible.

In fact, not long ago, a retailer leaked the white Xbox Elite Elite controller ii-generation product, it seems that the Xbox department is indeed preparing some new hardware.

Back to the chip itself, the current XSX and XSS are equipped with AMD semi-custom chips based on the 7nm process Zen2 CPU + RDNA2 GPU, with a maximum of 8 cores of 3.8GHz and a floating-point performance of up to 12.2T.

Since the chip is smaller and more energy efficient, the simplest way to do this is to improve the process, such as iterating from 7nm to 6nm or 5nm. In addition, if Microsoft is sincere or wants to harden the Sony PS5, it can also consider upgrading the CPU architecture to Zen3.

It remains to be seen how it will turn out.
