Obviously, only the eye-catching data such as "4.2L/100km of power loss, comprehensive endurance of 1300km, and 7.9s acceleration of 100km", are not enough to support the halo and title of Han DM-i as "BYD's longest endurance, the best handling and driving texture DM-i model". So, where is the bottom line of BYD Han DM-i? Now, with the fresh release of the first batch of domestic test drive reports, many mysteries hidden in this medium- and large-sized hybrid flagship sedan have also been officially revealed.

At the beginning of April, the BYD Han DM-i Media Test Drive kicked off in Chengdu, and I had the honor to participate in it and share some personal feelings with you, hoping to help you understand this car.

Falling in love with a car begins with the value of the face

But all visual enjoyment belongs to the benevolent and the wise. Therefore, the exterior and interior of bydirHan DM-i are only briefly presented in the form of a "personal perspective".

Since its official debut in March 2022, Han DM-i has harvested a wave of attention with its "high value". Thanks to the great success of BYD's latest Dragon Face "Dragon Face Aesthetics" design, Han DM-i also made no secret of his "blue out of blue is better than blue" sexy posture. After in-depth detail carving, the exquisite front face, the smooth body, and the penetrating taillights of the new "Chinese knot" design are the "highlights" that everyone talks about.

In fact, the real car looks even more shocking. This may be due to the oversized body size (4975 × 1910×1495mm + wheelbase 2920mm), but more importantly, the 3D object in reality is far more visually impactful than the 2D picture on the plane.

The interior of the Han DM-i adopts a wrap-around design and integrates the "pin" font arrangement, and the perfect symmetrical layout is a blessing for obsessive-compulsive patients. Leather seats, diamond design, stitching treatment, golden scale orange + night purple carbon fiber color matching, and fading ambient lights directly fill the ambience value.

Not only that, but almost all parts you can touch (center control, door panels, roofs, etc.) are wrapped in large areas of soft materials, and local details are supplemented by piano paint materials, and the workmanship and touch can also show the "flagship" quality that should be.

The front and rear rows of wide and thick seats, wrapping and comfort are good, the support for "big long legs" is also very in place, "sitting for a long time is not tired" is my more simple evaluation of it, the specific feeling varies according to personal height and body shape. Needless to say, the size of the "medium and large sedan" can meet the more relaxed travel needs of the vast majority of consumers.

To be a face value faction, but also to be a strength faction

Exterior or interior looks pleasing to the eye, but the car is not a vase after all, only real strength, can make people convinced. And this, more reflected in the dynamic performance link, after all, the car is used to drive.

A day's road test drive wasn't enough for me to have a comprehensive enough understanding of Han DM-i, but the following "highlights" impressed everyone in my industry:

First, smoothness.

In the range of starting, accelerating up to 120km/h full speed range, the Han DM-i power system can well understand the driver's intentions, respond quickly, and almost do not feel the setback.

It is worth mentioning that although its 100 km/h acceleration performance is "only" 7.9s, which is comparable to the traditional 2.0T fuel model, but believe me, the "smooth" and "static" of the DM-i super hybrid system in the acceleration process are almost incomparable to the latter. Moreover, the Han DM-i's calm performance in the range of 0-120km/h and even higher speeds (do not overspeed) is also the top presence in this class.

Second, tranquility.

The superior tranquility of hybrid models (especially at low and medium speeds) is naturally not a problem, so we have been mentally prepared for this. However, what surprised us about the HamM-i was that its quietness at high speeds was still so good that we never felt the "direct drive" mode when the engine was involved.

Third, stability.

The test drive passed through the daily travel environment such as urban, high-speed, and rural roads, and the stable posture of Han DM-i in complex roads such as low-speed, high-speed, curves, and ramps made people enjoy driving very much. Behind this is both the so-called "solid chassis" and the "willfulness of the suspension" and other factors. The calm and calmness of coping with complex road conditions is also the basic cultivation of its medium and large hybrid flagship sedan. Of course, while we enjoy the executive-level comfort and luxury brought by this type of model, we also give up some of the extreme handling performance, after all, the art industry has a specialty.

Again, smart connectivity.

Here we must give BYD a thumbs up to its "sincerity".

The DiLink 4.0 (5G) intelligent networking system equipped with Han DM-i makes me feel what is really "smart interconnection", which is comparable to the reaction speed of smart phones and interprets what smart cars should look like in the context of the new era. In contrast, you can pat yourself on the chest and say LJ to models that are hyped up and test drive performance is a mess.

It is worth mentioning that the UI design of Han DM-i is very simple, user-friendly and easy to use. Under the cool central control screen, it integrates the apps with the highest daily usage rates such as iQiyi, Douyin, WeChat, AutoNavi, and Camera. Moreover, when you click on the vibrato, the central control screen will automatically rotate to the vertical screen mode, which is easy to watch and very intimate.

In addition, the use of the camera is no different from the mobile phone, combined with the camera in the car, it is very convenient to have a "family portrait" in the car when the family travels, or to capture the road conditions in front of you at any time.

Han DM-i this set of DiLink 4.0 (5G) intelligent network system can be said to be 90% of the intelligent interconnection system on the market, more surprises will be left to you to feel.

Finally, let's talk about fuel consumption.

As we all know, Han DM-i as a supermix flagship sedan, oilable and electric, NEDC comprehensive working conditions of power loss fuel consumption as low as 4.2L/100km, NEDC comprehensive cruising range of up to 1300km, opening the era of medium and large sedans 4.2L+1300km. At the same time, bydirhan DM-i NEDC has a pure electric endurance of 121km and 242km, which is the longest pure electric range in the plug-in hybrid sedan.

In the process of this test drive, Han DM-i proved its strength to us with practical actions.

In the "fuel saving experience race" link, 8 vehicles were uniformly set by the staff driving mode (ev mode can not be used throughout the whole process) and driving route (mainly suburban roads), unified in the power loss mode, the final fuel consumption is about 4L/100km, and the final fuel consumption of the first 100 kilometers is only 3.5L, which is even better than the official results.

It is also worth mentioning that Han DM-i adopts a wide temperature range high-efficiency heat pump air conditioning system, which can work normally at -30 °C -60 °C, reduce the energy consumption of air conditioning at low temperatures by about 40%, increase the low temperature mileage of the whole vehicle by 10%, and truly achieve more efficient, more economical and more energy-saving.

In addition, the entire Han DM-i series is equipped with a maximum of 80kW of safe boost fast charging.

Finally, a small summary.

The "soul" of Han DM-i lies in the powerful DM-i super hybrid system, and the biggest role of this system is the "province" in the medium and low speed, especially in the congested travel environment (because of its "low fuel consumption" in the high-speed direct drive mode, some fuel vehicles can also do it), it can be said that it specializes in urban road conditions and specializes in energy conservation and environmental protection.

Moreover, this advantage is not limited to traditional fuel vehicles, and even better than most hybrid models. Of course, again, the performance of any vehicle is closely related to the driver (driving behavior). Every day floor oil, don't say "cost oil", even if it is pure electric vehicles, it is also "cost electricity" isn't it?
