Zhang Tong (1917-2010), known as Ta Shan, was born in Liaoning. Famous Chinese painters, cartoonists, muralists, calligraphers, arts and crafts artists, art educators, and art theorists in contemporary China. In 1932, he entered the Chinese Painting Department of Beiping Fine Arts College, and in 1938, he went to Yan'an to teach at the Lu Xun Art Institute, and later served as the chairman of the Shaanxi-Gansu-Ningxia Border Region Artists Association. In 1949, he designed the emblem of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference and the commemorative stamps of the First National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, was responsible for and participated in the art design work of the founding ceremony and the National People's Congress, designed and transformed Huairen Hall and the Hall of Diligence, and designed the venue of the Tiananmen Square Conference and the first batch of commemorative stamps of New China. In 1950, he became the director and professor of the Department of Applied Fine Arts of the Central Academy of Fine Arts, and led the national emblem design team of the Central Academy of Fine Arts to participate in the design of the national emblem. In 1955, he participated in the preparatory work of the Central Academy of Arts and Crafts, and in 1957, he was transferred to the Central Academy of Arts and Crafts as the first vice president, and in 1981, he was appointed as the president of the Central Academy of Arts and Crafts, and then left.
