In March 2022, the mother of a 16-year-old girl in the province of Bari, Puglia, reported that her daughter was behaving abnormally and was in close contact with an adult woman.
Police found that the adult woman was a sex worker who provided paid escort services. Then a criminal gang organized the prostitution of minors surfaced.
Since October 2021, the gang has lured and organized three 16-year-old girls to engage in prostitution. The gang members have a clear division of labor, and they solicit prostitutes by publishing advertisements on the Internet to solicit prostitutes, and arrange for underage girls to go to hotels and homestays to provide paid sexual services. The members of the gang usually wait for the girl in the next room to end the service and collect money from the prostitute on the spot, usually a few hundred euros. 50% of the prostitution funds are then given to the girls.
And after these girls who are in the flowering season get the money, they go to buy expensive clothes, bags, and go in and out of luxury restaurants. Police suspect they also bought drugs.
After a long-term investigation, the police launched raids in Rome, Bari, Lecce, Trani and other places yesterday morning to preventively control 10 suspects-
Four women aged between 21 and 35, and two men aged 25 and 29, were arrested and imprisoned on suspicion of enticing, organizing, and exploiting three underage girls into prostitution;
Two men, aged 47 and 42, were placed under house arrest for having sexual relations with the girl, knowing that she was still a minor;
Among the clients was a 55-year-old criminal lawyer who is currently required not to leave the city where he lives;
A 45-year-old hotel manager was also restricted from leaving his place of residence for acquiescing in illegal prostitution in the hotel.
