V8 is Justice, and the Mercedes-AMG S-Class is present at the Circuit Nord

Although the continued "downsize" of performance vehicle powertrains is still considered politically correct by most car companies before fully moving toward electrification, Mercedes-Benz is still one of the few OEMs that offers high-displacement V8 and V12 engines. Although the Mercedes-AMG C63/C43 has been pressured by the Environmental Protection Act to replace the plug-in hybrid system with a 2.0T+ electric motor, Mercedes-Benz will still retain the iconic V8 engine for the S-Class's high-performance AMG models.

Recently, foreign media photographed the Mercedes-AMG S-Class camouflage car for testing at the Nürburgring Nordschleigh Circuit. It is reported that the car will be equipped with a plug-in hybrid system composed of A V8 engine and electric motor, and its combined maximum power is expected to reach 514kW (700 hp). According to previous foreign media reports, the car may be named S63e and will be officially launched in 2022. In addition, the future S-Class will also launch a model with a maximum power of 588 kW (800 hp), in order to continue the previous flagship status of the Mercedes-AMG S65.

While most owners of the Mercedes-AMG S-Class do not have such usage scenarios, the Mercedes-AMG engineering team must ensure that the car has handling that matches the power and positioning. It is reported that BMW is also building a high-performance version of the M750e xDrive model on a new generation of 7 Series sedans, and like the next generation M5, the car will also use the V8 plug-in hybrid solution, and its maximum power is expected to reach 418kW (568 horsepower).

In addition, Mercedes-Benz officials said that the production cycle of the Mercedes-AMG S-class will last until 2030, when the brand is fully electrified. Of course, all this is based on the premise that national environmental regulations allow.
