With a sequel on the horizon, Overwatch has been quiet for the past year. In the absence of new heroes and new maps, the only things to expect are new skins, paint, and voice lines. Blizzard officially announced this year's anniversary Remix today (April 1), a 3-part event that will also try to bridge the gap between the current game and the sequel.

The first part of the campaign will kick off on April 5, with some fan-loved skins returning, some of which will also have new colors, including the white versions of "Witch" Angel, "Ghost" Genji, "Black Cat" D.Va, "Cult" Zen Yata, "Raven" Death, and "Black Emperor" Reinhardt. In addition, the Anna, Baptiste, D.Va skins, which are only available in the limited-time event, will also return as weekly challenge rewards.

The event will also bring back popular game modes, including PvE story mode, Lucio Ball Game, and Xiaomi's Snowball Battle, and will rotate other return modes each week.
The first part of the event will run until April 26, and the other two parts of the event will take place between the end of the first part and August, and each event will contain 6 reworked legendary skins. Blizzard said these events will replace other events that are typically held throughout the year, such as standard anniversary events and Summer Olympics events. This is the first time in 5 years that Overwatch's normal activity rotation mode has been interrupted.
"This three-part anniversary event allows our team to allocate more time and attention to the upcoming PvP beta, while giving the community the opportunity to access a unique variant of your favorite legendary skin," Community Manager Andy Belford wrote on the forum.
