Singapore's "Lianhe Zaobao" website recently reported that recently, the pure electric performance car brand Polar Star released a new concept car, redefining sports cars in the electric era. The hardtop convertible, called polestar O2, has all the advantages of an electric car, opening up a new era of combinations by combining the joys of open-top driving with pure electric vehicles.

The appearance of the Polestar O2 is clearly related to the Polestar Precept concept car, but has a more unique personality, showing Polestar's evolving design language and how it adapts to different body styles with strong family similarities. The low and wide bodywork, confident stance, compact 2+2 cockpit design, minimal suspension and long wheelbase, laminar flow integrated pipes on the side of the body, and taillights used as air blades to reduce tailflow all reflect the proportions of a classic sports car, but with a distinctly modern electric feel.
The new car also demonstrates advances in sustainability and technology, with the widespread use of new thermoplastic mono-materials in the interior, meaning the use of a single base material to make different components. Basically, recycled polyester is the only material used for all soft parts inside, including adhesives, 3D knitted fibers, and nonwoven lamination. This simplifies recycling while also reducing waste.
Another big selling point of the model is that it is equipped with a drone integrated behind the rear seat. A concept drone developed in collaboration with consumer electronics brand Hoco Flow, can initiate take-off while the car is driving, recording the entire driving process from the air. Polarstar's engineers developed a specialized airfoil that can be raised behind the rear seats to create a stable area for the drone to take off while the car is moving. The drone can operate autonomously, automatically following the car at speeds of up to 90 kilometers per hour. After the shooting is completed, the drone will return to the car autonomously, and then it can be played directly in the car on the 15-inch center display.
Polestar O2 continues the solid foundation laid by Polestar Precept as the company's vision for future design, technology and sustainability ambitions. Polestar plans to launch 3 new cars in the next 3 years, and from 2022 onwards, each of which has the potential to gradually realize the functions of these concept cars.
More and more cars began to add the concept of drones, but the real change in driving habits of the car-machine interaction has not yet appeared, I believe that in the near future will be able to better combine drones and intelligent driving systems, so that driving is more convenient, more fun, let us wait and see.
