Lin Huiyin's family is from the Wang clan of Fuzhou, and in the famous Huanghuagang martyr Lin Juemin, the author of "Letter to His Wife", is her cousin. In Lin Huiyin's ordinary and legendary life journey, the regional culture of Central Fujian has played a certain role in her physical and mental growth, and Lin Huiyin has shown the characteristics of frankness, enthusiasm, rationality and persistence of Women in Central Fujian.

Lin Huiyin was deeply influenced by his family's academic origins, especially after receiving the education and infection of Lin Changmin, an authentic Fuzhou person. They established a new type of father-daughter relationship. As Lin Changmin's good friend Xu Zhimo said in the article "Wounded Two Old Men": "This father and daughter are not ordinary fathers and daughters", but confidants.

In 1920, at the age of 16, she traveled with her father to Europe. Lin Changmin let her receive both Chinese and Western education. In 1923, at the age of 19, she graduated from the Peihua High School run by the Church of England; in 1924, she went to the United States with Liang Sicheng to study in the United States, studying at the University of Pennsylvania, Liang entered the Department of Architecture, she entered the Department of Fine Arts, and also took the architecture department; in 1928, they went to Ottawa, Canada, to marry, and returned to China after graduation in the same year. Lin Huiyin wrote a letter to Fei Zhengqing and Fei Weimei in 1935: "I grew up under the cultivation of dual culture. "She received a Western-style education in society, and at home, she received a Chinese-style education. She wrote to Hu Shi on the first day of the first lunar month in 1931: "My education is old", that is, traditional. This is a traditional education with a strong cultural color in the central Fujian region.

Lin Changmin also taught his daughter to love the countryside and benefit the villagers. He invested in Fuzhou, established a private law and politics college, and served as his own principal. He helped his daughter rationally choose Liang Si as her husband. Lin Huiyin's growth process has the nourishment of The Min Chinese passed down to her by Lin Changmin.

Lin Hui is short because of the brilliant story in Fuzhou

In the ugly year of Guangxu (1889), Lin Hui moved out of Fuzhou with his family after his grandfather Lin Xiaogong passed the entrance examination, so Lin Hui was born in Hangzhou, traveled to Europe and the United States, settled in Beijing, took refuge in the southwest, and returned to her real hometown - Fuzhou only once in her life.

Lin Huiyin's hometown tour began in mid-August 1927 and left in mid-September, with only a one-month stay, which was extremely short.

Because Liang Sicheng was hired by Zhang Xueliang to go to Northeastern University to prepare for the construction of the Department of Architecture, Lin Hui was able to fulfill his long-term wish, and at this time it was only 5 months after Lin Liang's new marriage, according to Fuzhou customs, the bride had to return to her ancestral home to worship her ancestors after marriage, and more importantly, Lin Hui was unattended because her mother He Xueyuan lived in Fuzhou at this moment, and needed Huiyin to take her back to Beijing for reunion, so Lin Huiyin, who had just returned from a honeymoon in Europe, just took the opportunity to return to her hometown - Fuzhou.

After Lin Huiyin returned to his hometown, he lived in the "Keyuan Garden" in Kangshan Mountain, Cangshan District, Fuzhou. "Keyuan" is a combination of Chinese and Western villa-style buildings built in the 1920s, single-door single-family, with courtyard gardens, and surrounded by European and American consulates, there is a strong cultural atmosphere, deeply influenced by Lin Hui, who has been educated by Western studies, so he does not want to live in the Japanese-style bungalow purchased by his father in Mizube Takahashi Lane.

In Fuzhou, Lin Hui was warmly welcomed and entertained by the private Fujian Law and Politics College founded by his father, Lin Changmin, and took a group photo with his uncle and siblings at the Law and Politics College to remember his father who died young. Lin Huiyin also took this opportunity to visit the scenic spots of Rongcheng and leave his own fragrance in Guling, a famous summer resort in Fuzhou.

In addition to visiting relatives and searching for roots, Lin Hui, as a master architect, did not forget to teach and educate people, and strived to teach the most recent architectural concepts to the people of her hometown, she once gave a speech on "Architecture and Literature" for Wushishan First Middle School, "Garden Architecture" for Cangqianshan Yinghua Middle School, and also designed the Fuzhou East Street Literary and Art Theater (now located as Fuzhou Juchun Garden) for her uncle Lin Tianmin, which became a famous attraction in Fuzhou at that time.

In order to change the poor and backward old China, Lin Huiyin stayed in his hometown for only one month and then hurried north with his mother to help her husband establish the first architecture department in Chinese universities, the Department of Architecture of Northeastern University. Since then, Lin Hui has been displaced by the War of Resistance, and has been exhausted for the new China, and has never been able to return to her hometown, as she wrote in her new poem "Hearing Music in the Middle of the Night": "Life has long described her style, too weak, is people's beautiful imagination." ”

Although Lin Huiyin's time in Fuzhou is extremely short, but she has always regarded Fuzhou as her hometown, her love for her hometown is fully reflected in literary works, such as in "Shadow Zero, Zhong Green" wrote about the customs of her hometown: "I" saw a beauty from my hometown when I was a child, and she came to give a funeral to "my" grandmother, because she was widowed, "according to our township practice, with a white headkerchief wrapped around her head." Later, "I" studied in the United States and met another beauty, a foreign girl named Zhong Lu, who hoped to come to China one day, and she loved to ride on a sailboat. "When I returned to China and was traveling in my hometown, I received a long letter from Bai Luo, and I really did not expect Zhong Lu to die on a sailboat." "That night against a clear river, the twilight, I was alone on the hillside on the shore, watching countless small sailing boats drifting downwind, and I couldn't help the tears from the rain, and sat down and cried." This is a novel with a certain autobiographical color.

Although she has been living in other places for a long time, Lin Huiyin has never changed her local pronunciation, and the Fuzhou dialect is extremely authentic and fluent, and when she invited academic giants such as Zhu Guangqian, Chen Daisun, Zhou Peiyuan, Shen Congwen and other academic giants to participate in the "Literary and Art Salon" at the "Lady's Living Room" at No. 3 Beizongbu Hutong in Beijing's Dongcheng, She often spoke Fuzhou dialect, and even attracted the hearts of the people with the official dialect of Fuzhou. Lin Huiyin's Fuzhou dialect even influenced his lifelong confidant Jin Yuelin.

Lin Huiyin: The guardian of cultural heritage who came out of Fuzhou

Lin Huiyin and her husband Liang Sicheng devoted their lives to the beloved cause of Chinese architecture and art, jointly created the chinese ancient architecture research system, founded two architecture departments of Northeastern University and Tsinghua University, and were the ideological forerunners and founders of the research of China's architectural history system.

From 1932 to 1945, Lin Huiyin and Liang Sicheng traveled throughout most of China, surveyed and mapped hundreds of ancient buildings, and compiled the National Catalogue of Cultural Relics and Ancient Buildings. The two men searched for ancient bridges, castles, and temples, and through the dust of the years, they surveyed the date, figured out the structure, calculated the size, drew pictures, and took pictures and archived. These practical investigations also enabled Liang Sicheng to crack the mysteries of Ancient Chinese architectural structures.

Lin Hui suffered from lung disease in his early years, and during the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, his condition worsened into tuberculosis. But even though she was seriously ill (tuberculosis was an incurable disease at the time), she and Liang Sicheng still slept in the open air all the way, crossed the mountains and mountains, traveled through 15 provinces and more than 200 counties in China, and surveyed and mapped more than 200 ancient buildings.

After 1949, she was involved in three major events that many people did not know about.

The first: participated in the design of the national emblem.

She was invited to work with several teachers on the task of designing the national emblem of the People's Republic of China.

The second case: rescue the cloisonné process.

"When she visited the antique city, she found a cloisonné vase on the verge of extinction, so she set up a cloisonné rescue team at Tsinghua University."

The third piece: participated in the design of the Monument to the People's Heroes.

"She was responsible for designing the reliefs of the monument's base."
