Hui Zai hero shrugged the monument, and his love was great and he offered the national emblem. Architectural civilization is the most beautiful in China: Beijing gathers ancient and modern brilliance.

Willing to live and die together with the inheritance, the heart is right, and the selflessness is to fight the "authority". The body was destroyed by a thousand lonely and courageous, unrepentant, and the loyal soul flew around the city.

Today is the birthday of Academician Liang Sicheng (April 20, 1901 - January 9, 1972). He is an architectural historian and architectural educator, a pioneer and founder of the ancient architectural discipline, and is known as the "father of modern Chinese architecture". He proposed that he oppose both the total Westernization and the imitation of Western-style architecture and the complete antiquity, and that it is necessary to create a new architectural form that can use new technologies and new materials and have national traditions. He put forward the theories and methods of the protection of cultural relics and buildings. He founded the Department of Architecture at Tsinghua University and trained a large number of architectural talents for China.

In 1950, Liang Sicheng led the design of the national emblem of the People's Republic of China. In 1951, Liang Sicheng served as the leader of the People's Heroes Monument Design Committee and presided over the determination of the style of the monument.

In 1948, he was elected an academician of the Academia Sinica and in 1955 he was elected a member of the Faculty of The Chinese Academy of Sciences. In 1992, China Post issued a commemorative stamp entitled "Liang Sicheng---- an architect known as the father of modern Chinese architecture"

At the beginning of 1950, Liang Sicheng and others proposed to the government a planning plan for the new Beijing City, advocating the protection of Beijing's ancient buildings and city walls, proposing to build a new Beijing in the western suburbs to protect the old Beijing City, and not to build high-rise buildings in the old city, which was not adopted. After that, he wrote to the north many times and saved the regimental city in the North Sea. During the Cultural Revolution, he was criticized as a typical "retro" and raided his home, and all the books and cultural relics in his collection were copied.

At the beginning of the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression in 1937, Liang Sicheng received an invitation from the "East Asia Co-Prosperity Association" sponsored by the Japanese side, inviting him to attend the meeting. After that, his wife Lin Huiyin and himself both fell seriously ill and were poor and sick. At that time, the Americans invited Liang Sicheng's family to the United States to work and treat diseases, but he said: "The country is in trouble, and we will never leave the motherland."

Liang Sicheng said: "The whole system of Beijing architecture is the best-preserved, most special and most precious artistic masterpiece in the world, and it continues to have traditional vitality. "We have inherited this unique heritage left by our ancestors, ancient and modern, Chinese and foreign, and the responsibility for maintaining it must not be shirked by our generation."
