Fuzhou Zhuzifang Visitor Center and the historical ancient street three squares and seven lanes across the street, recording the thousand-year history of Fuzhou, carrying the ancient urban and rural sorrows. The core of the designer's program is people-oriented, the technique is simple but meticulous, stripping away the complicated decoration, and presenting layers and subtleties under the simple look and feel.

Zhu Zifang is located in Fuzhou Jintai Road along the Antai River, formerly known as the Three Bridges, is one of the moats of Tangluo City, the Song Dynasty Tongfeng Doctor Zhu Mingong lived here, the four Zhu brothers are Dengshi version, Zhu ZiyingMen, hence the name. Zhu Zifang is a modern "naval family" and a gathering place of naval celebrities such as Sa Zhenbing, Sa Shijun, Fang Boqian, and Fang Ying.

At the foot of three hills, between two towers.

Zhu Zifang and the historical ancient street three squares and seven lanes across the street, recording the thousand-year history of Fuzhou, carrying the ancient urban and rural sorrows. With the continuous advancement of protection and restoration work, zhuzifang historical and cultural block is returning to the public's vision with the attitude of "vibrant block". The Zhuzifang Visitor Center of the project was unveiled in this manner.

01 A carrier of contemporary lacquer art

China is a big country of lacquer culture, Fuzhou is an important town of lacquer art in China, and Fuzhou is inextricably linked to the modern and contemporary development of Chinese lacquer art. From the climax of modern Fuzhou lacquer art created by the Shen Shaoan family, to the earliest lacquer discipline in China constructed by Shen Fuwen, from the vigorous development of Chinese lacquer painting creation in reform and opening up, to the presentation of contemporary techniques of lacquer art works today, the collision and fusion of contemporary art ideas and lacquer culture and art have opened up the era of Chinese lacquer language.

At the beginning of receiving the project, the designer was also thinking, "Must the visitor center in the Gucuo Cultural Block be quaint?" I hope it can look different", along the block and the main road, the traffic is busy, the sun is bright and weak, the main road and the surrounding commercial streets are full of cars, and the colorful business moves are side by side with the exterior wall of the project.

These phenomena make design thinking begin with the contrast with the surrounding environment, regardless of the direction of the line of sight can see the building façade of the "white", "light and shadow", "walking beam"; replace the smoked ash exterior wall of the white curtain wall, rich in layered bricks and tiles of the saddle wall, longitudinal array of metal pipes, shuttle metal pipe pillars, with the movement of light and shadow, the white exterior wall presents a different visual enjoyment to passers-by.

The first glimpse of the building in a chaotic environment, the outer square where the building resides, is also the only inner retreat square on this central street. That's the coat that the design wanted to give it. However, unfortunately, because it is a historical and traditional protected block, Party A has communicated with the government many times, and the only thing that can be moved outside the building is the receding ground and wall of the curtain wall and the road.

02 Reinterpretation of the Visitor Center

The structure and definition of the visitor center We have reinterpreted, re-architected, and extended more value beyond the tourism function indicators of A-class scenic spots.

The core of the program is people-oriented, the technique is simple but meticulous, stripping away the complicated decoration, and presenting layers and subtleties under the simple look and feel.

At present, most of the city's public spaces lack the true sense of publicity, and many spaces create a sense of distance, which is prohibitive, and it is difficult for users in their spaces to interact and communicate. The two rings around the central ball ladder are like the large benches that are cool at the door of childhood, sitting side by side to avoid the strangeness and embarrassment of different city visitors sitting on the same side, and the large benches in the outdoor plaza of the building are also out of empathy, pulling in the distance between people, producing the dissemination and sharing of different cultures, and maximizing the area of public space.

03 The local nature of urban culture

The main body of the building is located at the intersection of the Antai River and the large banyan tree on the road, the main entrance must pass through the Antai River, and the outline of the interior of the space is faintly visible through the ancient lattice gate, and the building at this time seems to be given a subtle and humble temperament.

Entering the main body of the space, the white giant sphere in the center instantly enters the eyeball, the entire space extracts "white" as the main color, the gray of the building outside the ancient house and the white metal sphere of the inner space, the white wall, the off-white epoxy terrazzo floor, and the glass produce a strong visual conflict, and the "a touch of white" jumps out of the whole field of vision, while highlighting the gray wall relief of the three-lane and seven-lane building complex overlooking the scene.

It creates the possibility of artistic fusion of historical buildings and contemporary spaces, and also expands the visitor's spatial perception through the guidance of the line of sight.

The relationship between space and form is the essence of architectural art and architectural science.

Due to the small single-storey floor area of the building, the function room and office are as far as possible to consider the back end of the plane, leaving the public space with the largest audience. While achieving the design effect, it meets all the functional needs of the A-class scenic spot visitor center. The function of the spherical staircase diffracts onto the exhibition needs of historical cultural creations and runs through the second floor, transforming the space from a two-dimensional plane to a three-dimensional façade, combining the spherical shelves of books, lacquerware, artworks and other objects, like a large magic ball, allowing visitors to freely explore the magic of art and knowledge.

The limited planar space cuts out a circular core, gathers the crowd in the middle of the space, breaks the established boundary of the architectural field, returns to the social essence of the building space itself in the open planar pattern, and introduces the outdoor natural light and shadow into the interior to the greatest extent. The afternoon sunlight on the second floor terrace reflects on the white wall of the ridge line through the ancient lattice door, such as the memory of history is frozen at this time, the past and the present become blurred, and the feeling of space is completely integrated.
