The word "also", relative to "delusion", is the core of the theme of "Dream of the Red Chamber". All "infatuation" is because you want to "pay back" something. If you owe something to someone else, you must pay it back. Eastern philosophy, believing in reincarnation, our life is not only the accumulation of this life, but also the accumulation of many lifetimes, so when we meet in this life, we probably have past life fate, and the fate is complicated and we are unknowable.
We have to "return" all kinds of different things, parents may have to return children's things, children may have to return parents' things, teachers may have to return students' things, husbands want to return wives' things, and wives may return husbands' things. If there is a philosophy of "return" in the human world, many incomprehensible, absurd, and ironic phenomena will be understood and transcended. I think "Dream of the Red Chamber" is talking about such a worldly love affair, and this love affair is an inexplicable phenomenon for ordinary people.
Jiang Xun is a famous writer, poet, painter and aesthetician. Born in Xi'an in 1947, he settled in Taipei in 1951 and studied at the Department of History of the Chinese Culture University, the Institute of Art of the Chinese Culture University and the University of Paris.
