01 The years are quiet
At the end of 2019, I published the book "Quiet Years".
Since the beginning of 2020, the world has been plunged into this fear of COVID-19. At that time, I thought that this pneumonia would pass quickly like the SARS virus in the past.
So I continued to arrange my own itinerary, flying to London, arranging to go to Belgium to see the exhibition, arranging to go to Paris to see the dance, and also making an appointment with some friends to go to the Italian heel place in April.
Like many of my friends, we will arrange a lot of itineraries in the quiet of the years. Young people always say that life should not be left blank, missing some things, always feel very sorry, so the itinerary is full.
But I didn't expect that it wouldn't be long before the new crown pneumonia spread to Europe, italy, Spain, there were many deaths, and I began to be a little afraid at that time.
So the biggest lesson of COVID-19 is that no one is outside of disaster, and every time you get lucky, disaster comes.
In the past two years, I have had a special kind of mourning for the dead, sympathy for the infected. At the same time, I also found that infection and death may also happen to myself.
All beings around the world have done a lesson together that reminds us that viruses know no borders. Now it seems that countries are not communicating with each other, between societies, between religions and religions, between the rich and the poor. But in the face of the virus, everyone's panic is the same.
"Years, Mo is not quiet and good", many people may not know that the four words "Mo bu jing is good" are sentences in the poetry. Two thousand years ago, a loving couple reminded us that we could love each other in the years. No big thing happens, it's called "jinghao", and "jing" is added before "good".
We sometimes crave the ups and downs of orgasm in our lives, but after COVID-19, people may find that nothing happens is a good thing. This return of the ordinary mind, the return to the rhythm and order of simple daily life, is an important learning in the midst of the epidemic.
02 Years without alarm
I've been self-isolating all year of 2020 and trying to have as little social interaction as possible with others. In May 2021, the outbreak of the epidemic in Taipei suddenly plunged the northern part of the city into panic. I called and asked my friend on the pond if there was anyone living in the artist's farmhouse. Just when an artist finished leaving, it was now empty, and then I applied to live there.
For the next three months, I didn't leave the pool. During those three months, I suddenly felt so lucky, because in the panic in the north, I lived in the countryside of Longzaiwei, and I didn't feel anything at all. Every morning and evening, I could go out and walk, for about two hours, without touching a single person.
Is this new crown pneumonia just a serious problem for the city? If you are in the middle of nowhere, in the middle of a field, you have no such fear at all. Every day I don't need to wear a mask, I just walk through the fields, watching the sunrise and sunset, watching the peasants work.
I live in the small village of Longzaiwei, a very traditional old farmhouse with a large yard in front of me, a barnyard, lotus mist trees, longan trees, and mango trees.
Every day I would take a wicker chair, sit under the eaves and watch the tree blossom and bear fruit, and every day I would read the scriptures and draw paintings and paint several very large works. The most interesting thing at this time is that in the countryside, there are stray cats running every day.
When these cats come, you suddenly feel that you can take care of them. Some are stray cats, which may have been abandoned by others, so they are no strangers to people. It will be very close to me, rubbing at my feet, then I will find a way to find food for it.
In the past I rarely had the opportunity to observe a cat in this way, and I didn't know it that well, but after just a day or two of feeding it, it could lie in that place with its belly fully up in front of me and lying in all directions.
A life is not at ease, the body will not be so relaxed. Our hands, our shoulders, are usually tight when massaging.
However, this cat's relaxation in front of me seemed to remind me that "the years are not alarmed." Although so many people die every day, it is also very important that you do not frighten yourself.
03 Nothing is true happiness
I asked my friend on the pool where there was cat food, and I found that there was a whole row of cat food imported from various European countries in the supermarket, so I picked the French one.
It quickly discerned that it had imported cat food and would never go back to eating the original cat food. I just want to say that if I mix two cat foods together, it won't be able to be picky. However, it can be picked out one by one to eat.
I just found out that this animal can be so intelligent. Animals can have such spirituality!
I learned a lot from cats. There are many things going on, but let's not frighten ourselves, we don't panic. It is a very important learning for us to be able to let the years pass in peace and quiet.
If a cat, an animal can do that, why can't I? Could I be quieter than that?
I am very grateful to these cats, who have helped me through many difficult years in this difficult time of COVID-19.
I really didn't expect that at the worst of the new crown pneumonia outbreak, I suddenly became related to the cat, who had no fate. They were like angels, teaching me a lot of homework.
I would like to wish all my friends "years without alarm". We have to tell ourselves in these two years, don't be frightened, don't be frightened, and be able to get through this difficult time.
