Honda Classic Mini Moto Dax is a brother model of Monkey that has been popular for decades since its launch in 1969, and has appeared in the form of ST50, ST70 and ST90 for many years, using the name "Dax" in Japan and Europe, which lasted until it was discontinued in 2000 and has been away from the market for more than 20 years! In fact, in 2020, there was news that the Honda Dax was about to be resurrected, and it was not until recently that Honda put it into practice.
Honda rebooted the Dax in the form of the new ST125, continuing the classic styling of the 1970s. The name is why it was named Dax, the name comes from "Dachshund" because its unique T-shaped frame resembles the Weiner breed, which is also the iconic design of the Dax, which has been carried on to this day.
Honda's new ST125 Dax is mainly from the Super Cub, so it is also equipped with the same 124cc displacement SOHC air-cooled single-cylinder engine, which is connected to the four-speed transmission by a centrifugal clutch. Maximum horsepower 9.25 hp/7,000 rpm and maximum torque 8.0 lb-ft/5,000 rpm.
The main frame of the Dax has a dual function, while being used as a chassis frame, it accommodates a 3.8-liter fuel tank with a curb weight of 109kg, although Honda claims that the Dax can travel nearly 240 kilometers.
Front 31mm inverted fork, rear dual shock absorber, front dual piston caliper + 220mm single disc, rear single piston caliper + 190mm disc, 12 inches at both front and rear wheels, standard with IMU-based dual-channel ABS. The IMU is used to monitor and prevent rear wheel lifts, which is an unavoidable problem for motorcycles with such a short wheelbase and high center of gravity.
Other features include a 775mm seat height, a circular instrument panel with a negative LCD display, LED lights, chrome fenders and chrome rear passenger armrests.
Honda's new Dax is available in two livery schemes in the European market, red or blue, with the Dax name around the tank and st125 on the side skids, the price has not yet been announced.
