Since its listing, GUANGQI Honda Odyssey has been unanimously recognized by domestic consumers with its excellent product strength. With the upgrading of models, the fuel economy of Odyssey added to the hybrid system has been greatly improved, and it has become the first choice for consumers to purchase home MPV. Recently, the mid-term revamped Odyssey has arrived as promised, and the design and configuration level has been improved again. As of press time, the 2022 GUANGQI Honda Odyssey has not received complaints since its listing, and the short-term quality word-of-mouth performance is worthy of recognition. So, can GAC Honda Odyssey continue the existing good quality reputation performance? Will there be some new problems that are difficult for ordinary consumers to discover? This issue of "New Car Commodity Evaluation" will break through the fog for you, and restore a real Guangqi Honda Odyssey through the two dimensions of objective data and subjective feelings.
1. Objective data
This project mainly shows the performance of the new car in terms of commerciality in the form of objective data through field tests of 12 items such as body technology, paint film level, interior air quality, noise from the car, static vibration in the car, parking radar and lighting/vision.
In the body process testing session, a total of 10 key parts of the vehicle are selected, and 3 key points are selected for measurement in each key part to evaluate the uniformity of the gaps in each key part. Judging from the test results, the uniformity of the gap data of most key points of the Guangqi Honda Odyssey is excellent, and the gap between the left and right sides is not large, and the overall performance is worthy of recognition. However, the average gap in most of the tested parts of the vehicle is somewhat high, or related to its MPV body structure. In addition, in the test, it was found that the average gap between the front fenders and the engine hatch on both sides was small, while the gap difference between the rear fenders and the trunk on both sides was slightly larger, and the sides also reflected that there was room for improvement in the assembly process of the car.
In the paint film level test, through the test results, it can be found that the average thickness of the vehicle paint film of Guangqi Honda Odyssey is about 130.4 μm, which has exceeded the standard value of the advanced car (120 μm-150 μm). The standard value of the premium car has been exceeded. During the test, it was found that the difference in values between the left and right sides of the car was also small, and the uniformity of the paint film spraying was worthy of recognition. However, there are still high values in the individual test points of the rear fenders on both sides of the car, but it has little impact on the overall test results.
In the in-vehicle air quality testing link, the vehicle is placed in the internal surface parking lot with fewer vehicles, and the formaldehyde is not detected in the car of Guangqi Honda Odyssey, which is in line with the relevant standards in the "Guidelines for Air Quality Evaluation in Passenger Vehicles" (National Standard OF THE People's Republic of China GB/T 27630-2011) jointly issued by the former Ministry of Environmental Protection and the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine since March 1, 2012. In addition, the content of inhalable particulate matter such as PM2.5 in the car is also at a low level.

In addition, we tested parking radar, lights/vision, control systems, tire hubs, sunroofs, seats, and trunks. After testing, the length of the front seat of the Guangqi Honda Odyssey is 500mm, the overall riding experience is more comfortable, the second row is a "first class" seat, which can support shoulders, backrest and other adjustment methods, and the seat is also equipped with adjustable leg drags to alleviate the fatigue of long-distance rides. Finally, the total score is given with reference to the subjective evaluation opinions given by the judges, so as to reflect the actual performance of the new car in terms of commerciality from the perspective of subjective feelings.
In the external evaluation, the overall performance of the vehicle was good, and the overall sliding of the double-sided sliding door equipped with the test vehicle was relatively smooth, and the "induction magic door" was supported. When using, cover the blue light on the door with your hand and then sweep it by hand, although this design has a playable and advanced feeling, but in terms of daily operation, the usage rate is not high. In the internal evaluation, the central armrest embedded in the main driver's seat has a large area and can support folding and angle adjustment functions, which can effectively support the elbow when driving, and it is slightly regrettable that the central armrest does not support adjustment, and the flexibility is slightly insufficient. In addition, because the air conditioning control panel adopts a touch design, it is easy to leave fingerprints. Although the second row of seats has more functions, the adjustment functions are also manual, the shoulder adjustment handle position is high, and the left and right adjustment handle position is too lower and backward, which is inconvenient when using.
As an MPV model, the car has a lot of space to ride, but when riding in the third row, the overall feeling is slightly crowded, and the seat cushions are thin, which will cause fatigue after a long ride. It is worth mentioning that whether it is the cup holder at the air outlet of the driver's seat air conditioner or the hidden storage compartment in front of the co-pilot, it is convenient for daily use, but its opening button center console trim is integrated, some are hidden, and the initial operation is slightly inconvenient. In addition, although the third row of seats is equipped with cup holders on both sides, the cup holder design is shallow and there is no limiter, which has a general fixing effect on water bottles and water cups.
The concealed cup holder is located at the bottom of the center console and is slightly lower overall. The third row of seats adopts a hidden design, which is integrated with the vehicle floor after being retracted, which is conducive to space expansion, but the third row of seats is heavier and somewhat laborious when taken out or put away. It is worth mentioning that the third row of seats can be folded to become a "fishing bench", which is more practical when outdoor outings.
The 10.1-inch central control large screen is equipped with Honda CONNECT 3.0 intelligent guide interconnection system, which can support OTA online upgrades, navigation, QQ music and online radio stations. In terms of voice interaction, as long as you say "Hello Honda", you can wake it up and the speech recognition rate is high, but the voice system can only control the software-level functions after waking up, and hardware functions such as sunroofs and air conditioners cannot be controlled. In addition, when reversing, it was also found that the clarity of the car's image picture needs to be improved, which has a certain impact on the driver's observation of the surrounding environment of the vehicle.
The 2022 GUANGQI Honda Odyssey is still equipped with the third-generation i-MMD hybrid system, of which the 2.0L engine has a maximum power of 107 kW and a peak torque of 175 N·m; the maximum power of a single motor is 135 kW, the peak torque is 315 N·m, and the transmission system matches the E-CVT stepless transmission. The brake foot feel of the Odyssey is more linear and the force is moderate. In terms of steering, the overall feel of the steering wheel is slightly heavy, and it takes a while to adapt when it first gets started, but the overall front of the car is more circular, giving the driver full confidence in handling.
In terms of suspension, the car is equipped with a front McPherson-style independent suspension and a rear torsion beam type non-independent suspension, which is more comfortable in the actual experience, and the small vibration suppression on the road surface is more excellent. And when passing through the speed bumps, the third row of passengers can clearly feel the sense of jumping, which we guess is related to the form of the rear suspension.
The car in this test is also equipped with a full-speed adaptive cruise system, which can support lane departure warning system, lane keeping assist system, road traffic sign recognition, etc. During the drive, the vehicle will follow the car in front of it and brake, and the vehicle can also steer slightly according to the markings on the road and the amplitude is not very large. When following the car in front, there are 4 gears of distance adjustable, at the closest distance, and the car in front can maintain a body position distance, easy to be plugged during driving. When the vehicle is jammed, the system will not recognize the situation, there is a safety hazard. In addition, the car also supports the well-known right blind spot monitoring function, which can be turned on when the right turn signal is turned on or the button on the joystick is pressed, but the screen display clarity still has room to improve.

Based on the above tests, it is not difficult to see that the 2022 Guangqi Honda Odyssey basically meets the expectations of the expert jury in terms of objective data and subjective feelings. In terms of objective data, the gap between the left and right sides of the car is relatively uniform, but there are slight differences between the trunk and the left and right rear fenders.
