Tesla is raising prices again!
Just today, Tesla once again announced a price increase, Model 3 performance version, Model Y long-endurance version and Model Y high performance version from now on the price increase of 10,000 yuan.
After the price adjustment, the current price of tesla Model 3 high-performance version of the official website is adjusted from the previous 339,900 yuan to 349,900 yuan.

The price of the Model Y long-endurance version and the Model Y high-performance version is currently 357,900 yuan and 397,900 yuan, respectively, which is also up 10,000 yuan from before. The price of the Model Y after-drive version remains unchanged, still at 301,840 yuan.
Tesla's frequent price increases, in addition to subsidies, are expected to be related to rising raw material prices and shortages of parts. The price of raw materials for power batteries continues to rise, the price of new energy vehicles will also rise, and the price increase of new energy vehicles will continue.

The most important component of an electric vehicle should be the power battery, in last year's Tesla third quarter earnings conference call, Tesla announced that globally, its standard endurance upgrade version Model 3 and standard endurance version Model Y will use lithium iron phosphate batteries to replace the previous ternary lithium batteries.
The power battery configuration of the high-performance version Model 3, long-endurance version Model Y, high-performance version Model Y, Model X and Model S remains unchanged, and the ternary lithium battery continues to be used.

Whether it is a ternary lithium battery or a lithium iron phosphate battery, lithium element is required in the positive electrode, and a ternary lithium battery also needs to use nickel at the same time. These raw materials are currently facing a certain degree of price increase.
Lithium carbonate is currently the main source of lithium metal, and the price increase of this product is very obvious. Public data show that the current price of one ton of lithium carbonate has broken through the mark of 500,000 yuan / ton.
If you only look at this data may not have a very strong cognition, we can look at another set of data, at the beginning of this year, Shanghai Steel Union data show that the average price of battery-grade lithium carbonate is 290,000 yuan / ton.
In just 3 months, the price of lithium carbonate has increased by more than 70%, which is a very surprising increase. If you look back further, at the beginning of 2021, the average price of battery-grade lithium carbonate was only 48,000 yuan / ton, and in just over a year, the average price increased by more than 10 times.
The price fluctuations of nickel, another raw material, are also very obvious. Public data show that nickel prices have risen significantly recently, breaking through 630,000 yuan / ton. On Monday, the LME nickel quotes soared from $29,770/ton (about 188,000 yuan/ton) to $55,000 (about 347,000 yuan), surpassing an all-time high of $51,800 (about 327,000 yuan). On Tuesday, nickel prices soared to $100,000 (about 630,000 yuan).
In two days, the nickel price rose from less than 30,000 US dollars / ton (about 190,000 yuan / ton) to more than 100,000 US dollars / ton (about 630,000 yuan / ton), while the nickel price at the beginning of 2020 was only 10,000 to 20,000 US dollars (about 60,000 yuan to 126,000 yuan).
The continuous rise of the core raw materials of power batteries has obviously affected power battery companies. When the car thing consulted with a power battery leading company, the other party said that the continuous price increase of raw materials will have an impact on consumer psychology and business operations, and the battery company will discuss product price adjustment according to the price increase of materials and car companies, and has now carried out some price adjustments according to the situation of different car companies.
Second, there have been two price increases before the highest price increase of 20,000 in 3 months
It is worth noting that this is not the first time Tesla has announced a price increase. From last November to March this year, Tesla has adjusted its price three times.
In mid-to-late November last year, Tesla officially announced price increases, adjusted the price of domestic Model 3 and Model Y entry-level models, and adjusted them upwards by 4752 yuan, when Tesla gave the reason that state subsidies would further decline.
In just over a month, Tesla announced a price increase on December 31, the price of Model 3 and Model Y models was raised again, and the price of the Model 3 rear-wheel drive version was adjusted to 265,600 yuan, up 10,000 yuan from before; the price of the Model Y rear-wheel drive version was adjusted to 30.184 yuan, up 21,000 yuan from before.
It is worth mentioning that due to the price increase of the Model Y rear-wheel drive version to more than 300,000 yuan, it means that the model Y series will no longer enjoy new energy vehicle subsidies.
Today Tesla announced price increases again, and the price of Model 3 performance version, Model Y long endurance version and Model Y performance version has been raised by 10,000 yuan. In such a short period of time, Tesla has increased its price three times, but from the perspective of Tesla's monthly sales of more than 50,000, the price increase should not affect Tesla's performance in the pure electricity market.
