Spend 3.84 million to charge? Tesla is once again caught in the vortex of "sky-high" overtime occupancy fees

Recently, some netizens posted a map of Tesla's supercharging charges, and the system showed that the amount it needed to pay was as high as 3.8463 million yuan.

The netizen said that he recently received a notice that his super charging station service was disabled because of unpaid fees, when he checked, he found that the most recent charge was on February 27, and the cost of this charge needed to be delivered as high as 3.8463 million yuan, before which his charging was free.

The netizen was very puzzled about how the "sky-high" bill that made his charging service disabled was generated.

Tesla's third-generation supercharger pile, the maximum power of 250kw, Model 3 long endurance version can be about 5 minutes to supplement the cruising range of 120km, some models in the state of peak power, but also in 15 minutes to obtain a cruising range of about 250km.

According to Tesla's charging rules, if the car is not removed 5 minutes after a full charge, it will be charged a "resource occupation fee". The charging standard of "resource occupation fee" is divided into two gears, when there is an idle parking space, it is charged 3.2 yuan per minute, and when there is no idle parking space, it is charged 6.4 yuan per minute.

If you want to incur a cost of 3.8463 million yuan, you need to occupy a parking space for 10,000 hours, which translates to occupying a parking space for more than 400 days.

Subsequently, the netizen contacted Tesla customer service, and the reply given by the customer service was that there was an error in the background system of some vehicles, and the technician was repairing it, or the problem would be solved within 24 hours. As of press time, there is still no update.

It is understood that in addition to Tesla's charging pile, Xiaopeng Automobile's charging pile also has overtime occupancy fees, but the price is much lower than Tesla, and the overtime occupancy fee of Xiaopeng Automobile is fixed at 1 yuan per minute, and the timing is calculated from 30 minutes after the owner ends charging.

Weilai Automobile, on the other hand, simply does not have overtime possession fees.

As early as 2016, Tesla introduced the parking space occupancy rule, and in 2019, it raised the overtime occupancy fee of 2.6 yuan per minute to 6.4 yuan when there was no idleness. In this regard, Tesla's customer service responded that the overtime occupancy fee is to improve the utilization rate of charging piles. The high overtime occupancy fee caused dissatisfaction among some Tesla users, and on March 4 this year, a blogger sent a photo of Tesla's overtime occupancy fee, which was up to 6.4 yuan per minute, causing netizens to discuss hotly.

To this end, the "International Finance News" reporter also interviewed several Tesla users, some of which admit that because of the existence of high overtime occupancy fees, they usually choose to wait in the car when charging outside to prevent the car from driving away in time after charging, and the other part expresses the recognition of high overtime occupancy charges, the existence of this fee makes many car owners choose to leave in time after charging, to avoid occupying the parking space.

It is understood that Tesla is working hard to expand the charging network around the world, expand the frequently used charging stations, and expand more charging lines.

As of January 2022, tesla's number of open charging stations in Chinese mainland has exceeded 1,000, with more than 8,000 supercharging piles, with more than 700 destination charging piles and more than 1,800 destination charging piles, covering more than 360 cities and regions Chinese mainland.

Among them, in 2021 alone, Tesla will add more than 1,000 superchargering stations in Chinese mainland.

In January sales announced by the Association, Tesla China sold 19,346 units in China, up 24.9% year-on-year, while the Shanghai Gigafactory has now become Tesla's main export center, with Tesla China's exports reaching 40,500 units in January.
