Shanghai Pudong Art Museum opened its first exhibition "Water Domain" this year. With the theme of "Water", the core of human life, the exhibition exhibits more than 100 pieces from the collection of France, telling the relationship between water and social culture from multiple angles. For thousands of years, the theme of "water" has fascinated artists and craftsmen alike. Among the exhibits in this exhibition are cultural relics such as 19th-century fish baskets, 14th-century goddess sculptures, and animal-shaped sculptures of the Inuit people of Greenland, which decipher the riddles of the 19th century water for the audience; there are also contemporary art works such as glass jellyfish and "Mirror Space" to depict today for the audience. The exhibition will display cultural relics spanning thousands of years and contemporary art side by side, dialogue between ancient and modern, and jointly tell the story of human beings and water.

The exhibition is divided into five sections: Landscape Manufacturing of Water, Daily Life of Water, Imagination of Liquids, Sacred Territory, and Geographical Transition of Water. With "water" as the main line, it shows the history of human irrigation of rice fields, the development of water conservancy technology, and the formation of bathing culture. At the same time, through the atmosphere creation, the audience seems to be in the blue water, bringing the audience an immersive experience about water.

In order to smoothly introduce more than 100 precious exhibits in the epidemic environment, the relevant parties have been preparing since 2019. For some cultural relics with a history of thousands of years, in the case of no way to send special personnel to Shanghai to set up the exhibition, the trust of the French side is crucial to the success of the exhibition. This cooperation is the result of the joint efforts of the cultural industries of the two countries.
The exhibition will run from February 28, 2022 to June 5, 2022.
