Nowadays, ZTE directly announced the establishment of automotive electronic product lines, which is a direct official announcement into the automotive chip market.
For ZTE, from base station chips to automotive chips, all are testing ZTE's scientific research level, fortunately, in the research and development of automotive chips, ZTE is not fighting alone, as well as SAIC, FAW and other heavyweight partners, the research on vehicle-grade chips, more difficult.
How does ZTE's actions affect the automotive sector?
In fact, there are not many giants entering the automotive chip track, in addition to Huawei and ZTE, there are also well-known car companies such as BYD, BAIC, Weilai, and GUANGZHOUC.
However, these car giants who entered the field of automotive chips earlier have not completely changed the status quo that China's automotive semiconductors are mainly dependent on imports.
According to the author's understanding, the output value of domestic automotive semiconductors in the mainland only accounts for about 5% of the global share, and some key automotive grade chips need to be imported from overseas, with an import rate of more than 80%.
It can be seen that chips have always been a pain point for the mainland automotive industry.
The development of automotive chips by ZTE means that it will accelerate the pace of domestic enterprises in the field of automotive chips and further increase the proportion of independent chips in domestic cars.
At the same time, for ZTE itself, entering the automotive chip will improve its own layout in the automotive field, and can provide more solutions for partners by providing technologies such as in-vehicle operating systems and vehicle-grade chips.
To some extent, ZTE is similar to Huawei's positioning, not building cars and providing full-vehicle solutions, but compared with Huawei, ZTE's layout in the automotive field is slightly weaker.
