The Chinese sports delegation for the Beijing 2022 Winter Paralympic Games was established

The Beijing 2022 Winter Paralympic Games will be held from March 4 to 13. On February 21, the Chinese sports delegation was established in Beijing, which was the sixth time that the mainland had organized a delegation to participate in the Winter Paralympic Games. The delegation was headed by Zhang Haidi, chairman of the China Disabled Persons' Federation, Zhou Changkui, secretary of the party group and chairman of the board, as deputy head of the delegation (standing), and vice chairmen Wang Meimei and Zhang Wei as deputy heads of the delegation.

The total number of delegations was 217, including 96 athletes (including 68 male athletes and 28 female athletes), 121 coaches, staff, competition support personnel, and medical personnel.

Athletes come from 12 provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities directly under the Central Government, including 7 ethnic groups such as Han, Manchu, Wa, Dai, Dong, Yi and Miao, all of whom are amateur players, with occupations such as workers, farmers, students, clerks and freelancers. The average age of the athletes is 25 years old, the oldest is 45-year-old alpine skier Zhang Haiyuan, and the youngest is 17-year-old snowboarder Geng Yanhong.

There were 85 athletes in the delegation participating in the Winter Paralympic Games for the first time, accounting for 88.5%. The delegation will compete in all six major events and 73 minor events in wheelchair curling, Paralympic ice hockey, Paralympic alpine skiing, Paralympic snowboarding, Paralympic cross-country skiing and biathlon. Compared with the 2014 Winter Paralympic Games in Sochi, which was held before the beijing Winter Paralympic Games successfully bid, the number of major events increased from 2 to 6, and the number of minor events increased from 6 to 73. This is the largest delegation, the largest number of athletes and the most complete number of participating events since the mainland participated in the Winter Paralympic Games.

The mainland winter Paralympics started late. The goal of the delegation's participation is to show the world the spirit of Self-improvement of Chinese disabled persons in the new era, to show the development achievements of the mainland winter Paralympic Movement, and to strive for good results and glory for the country.
