Most of the manuscripts of "Talking about Weinan" (Collector's Edition) were selected from the manuscripts published in the "Words of Weinan" column opened by Weinan Daily for 14 consecutive years, and the other part was tailored to some famous experts and scholars who were invited by the newspaper to write according to the requirements for publishing books, and a small number of works were recorded from some literary and historical materials published locally in Weinan, covering all aspects of Weinan history and culture.
As early as 2007, Weinan Daily created a column entitled "Talking about Weinan". In the past 14 years, this column has gathered a large number of experts, professors and local folklore scholars, and has published more than 1,000 articles, more than 3 million words, and more than 600 pictures. At present, the influence of this column is getting bigger and bigger, from the city to the outside of the city, from home to abroad, and is deeply loved by Weinan people at home and abroad. The column has won the provincial and municipal excellent column awards, especially the first prize of the Shaanxi Journalism Award in 2019, and is recommended to participate in the China Journalism Award. The main leaders of the Weinan Municipal Party Committee and the Municipal Government highly affirmed the work of this column, saying that this column is a beautiful business card for Weinan City's external propaganda. Weinan is an important city in the Yellow River Basin, and the history and culture of Weinan is an extremely important part of the Yellow River civilization. In order to thoroughly implement the spirit of General Secretary Xi Jinping's important speech at the symposium on ecological protection and high-quality development of the Yellow River Basin, excavate the culture of Weinan, tell the story of the Yellow River, continue the historical context, and strengthen cultural self-confidence, Weinan Daily decided to unite with zhonghua bookstore in early 2021 to once again solemnly launch the first and second volumes of "Words on Weinan" (collector's edition).
In the process of editing, the editorial board of "Talking about Weinan" held several special meetings to study the editorial ideas, and finally established the content positioning of the manuscript of "tracing historical origins, experiencing customs and folk customs, presenting natural landscapes, introducing cultural monuments, promoting the Yellow River culture, and strengthening cultural self-confidence". In terms of selecting manuscripts, we have always adhered to the basis of Weinan, with the unique serious attitude and responsible spirit of the mainstream media, with the unique perspective of journalists and the taste of cultural people, to fully excavate, sort out and reproduce the unique customs of this land and the excellent traditional Chinese culture that has been interpreted and handed down from generation to generation by the people who have lived here for thousands of years, adhere to the combination of pictures and texts, and pursue ideological, literary, intellectual, and interesting in one. In order to ensure that the text and pictures are perfect, the newspaper's text and historical materials editors work day and night to refine and grind all the manuscripts sentence by sentence to strive for perfection; the newspaper photojournalist waded through the mountains and rivers and ran through the Weinan ravines and ravines to select the best picture.
After repeated research with zhonghua bookstore, it was finally decided that the contents of the book were divided into eight categories: tracing the source (13 manuscripts), relics (26 manuscripts), characters (19 manuscripts), folklore (19 manuscripts), skills (15 manuscripts), food and drink (14 manuscripts), stories (11 manuscripts), Yonghuai (13 manuscripts) and other 130 manuscripts, about 600,000 words, 234 illustrations. These chapters cover the historical origins of the counties (cities, districts) under the jurisdiction of Weinan City, the remains of Weinan's national-level provincial-level important cultural preservation, the historical and cultural celebrities of Weinan for 5,000 years, the unique customs and customs of Weinan, the famous national-level provincial-level non-genetic inheritance projects in Weinan, the unique flavor dishes and snacks of Weinan, the historical allusions and folklore that have been circulated in Weinan for a long time, and the lyrical nostalgia of celebrities for Weinan customs.
Every detail of the compilation of the book strives to be perfect, especially when designing the cover, the newspaper and the Zhonghua Bookstore mobilize the strength of all parties, repeatedly deliberate, change the manuscript, and finally determine that the cover of the upper volume uses the sketch of Sima Qianci, one of the Chinese cultural symbols, the cover of the second volume uses the Huashan sketch of huashan, one of the Chinese geographical indications, and the envelope uses the twenty-eight bird traces created by Cangjie, the ancestor of the Chinese characters, which fully highlight the historical and cultural status and characteristics of Weinan.
In the process of editing, he received strong support from all walks of life, and Mr. Zheng Xinmiao, former vice minister of culture and former president of the Palace Museum, loved this book and gladly wrote a preface.
